No one is seeking to 'redefine' marriage – marriage is the union of two equal, consenting adult partners recognized by the state – same- or opposite-sex, it makes no difference.

Allowing same-sex couples access to marriage law in accordance with the 14th Amendment in no way 'changes' marriage, as same-sex couples are currently eligible to participate in marriage contract law.

Nor is anyone seeking to change the definition of marriage in the context of religious doctrine and dogma, where 14th Amendment jurisprudence does not apply to private persons or organizations such as churches, and religious entities remain at liberty to perceive religious marriage as between a man and a woman.

because it is a for the purposes of joining two people. We can make multiple marriages legal if we want, but not by arguing over the laws as they stand today. The Courts have ruled marriage is a right. Marriage in the legal sense is a contract between two people.
