Buzz Aldrin Slams ‘First Man’ Movie for Omitting US Flag

Neil Armstrong said “one giant leap for mankind,” not “one giant leap for America.”

Regardless, as has been repeatedly pointed out, this was all about America being first, and planting the flag first.
The whole movie is about Americans. It’s cool that America was first, and it’s something to be proud of, but it’s much bigger in the grand scheme than just being a race between two petty superpowers.

Obviously it was a gigantic scientific and engineering achievement, no one could ever claim different.
However, the entire goal was 100% fueled by a race to see who could be first.

Look at the timeline, which really was beyond belief. America's first manned flight, which wasn't even a flight that obtained orbit, was only eight years before landing two men on the moon.

Think about that for a moment. We went from a tiny manned Redstone rocket, to the massive Saturn 5 in just eight years.

That was an accelerated achievent that is unparrelled.

Plenty of documentaries about this or American propaganda pieces about it and other things for you to watch instead if you want. I suspect this movie was made with greater ambition than just appealing to butthurt American conservatives.

It was the greatest achievement in human history.

Accomplished by Americans.

All the characters portrayed in the movie are American.

Billions of us watched this scene.

What was more important, men landing on the moon, or them putting up a flag afterwards that is now bleached white and unrecognizable for any aliens who might stumble on it one day?
Obviously under 50 and public education.
Yep, a small, petty man you are

Did you run out of flags to burn? Go troll another thread before I call your mommy on you.

Hollywood can't help themselves from being American hating assholes, can they?

Must come from living in La La Land.

All's they needed to do was be 100% accurate, and by default, they would have had a patriotic movie that only the left would hate.

These Liberals are ignorant of history just like they are ignorant of economics, the Constitution, ethics, biology and climate science.

Maybe that it is that they are not ignorant of what happen on the Moon Bat but they are so consumed with the hate of this country that they can't bear to be accurate.

The UN did not put a man on the Moon. American engineering, drive, courage and taxpayers did.

Amazingly….a movie gets made about every 9 months or so featuring someone named “captain America”. Is anyone forcing them to make the movies? No. Was anyone sitting around thinking “Man, why don’t they make movies about Captain America?” before they made them? No.

It’s a convenient canard that there is some “anti american” bias in hollywood. What does exist is what would be perceived as a liberal bias. Pretty much because movies about conservative values would be dull and boring.
Right, cuz there was so much American patriotism in all those movies. Name one time The United States was mentioned in any marvel movie, other than the name "Captain America".

Sorry to hear that there are people who forget if there isn't a flag in almost each scene.
Ignorant fucking post, even for you.
A totally legit issue. People can't remember what country they are in unless there's flag on everything from picnic napkins to bras.....people can't remember their religion unless there's a cross or creche on every town square...people can't remember their history unless there's a con-federate statue in every town.

It's a memory issue.

It was the second most iconic moment of the Apollo program, right after the First Step.

It is insane to think that there was not a better scene to cut.
