California Pizza Places Laying Off ALL Delivery Drivers Due To New Law

It’s an injustice against the people who are losing their jobs because of it.

Because going out of business would be better?

The people losing their jobs have their employer to blame. Their employer made that decision, nobody else. Higher expenses obvious create a challenge for any business. And it's possible that in the long run that could translate to job losses.

The simple fact is that this owner isn't making rational business decisions, he's just pulling an Ellis Wyatt, burning his own oil fields because he can. The law hasn't even taken effect yet. Why is he reducing his productivity now? Any rational business owner would assess the increase expense this will cause, and pass those costs along to the consumer.

One of two things will then happen:
  1. Consumers continue to consume the product at the same rate, which indicates that the product was likely under priced and businesses were not fully capturing all possible market demand (which is often the case in a competitive market).
  2. Consumers will reduce their consumption somewhat and necessitate a reduction in workforce that is commensurate with the reduced consumption.
It's not like this is something that applies only to one employer. This will be the case for every pizza joint in the state. All the company's competitors will be in the same boat. Something like 75% of pizza demand is in delivery. That's not going to simply disappear.

A business owner who cuts off their own nose to spite their face is not someone whose reactions are worth consideration when judging a government action.

Where they have no benefits, no min wage, nothing…Again just showing that you libs couldn’t care less for the working poor…
So, you support the $20 minimum wage in California then, since you care.

No, the people losing their jobs have the government to blame, and people like you who support it, for imposing an unfunded mandate on their employers they can't afford.

Their employer made that decision, nobody else.

Oh, so you admit it's an issue. You just don't care.

When did the owner open up their books for you to examine?

, he's just pulling an Ellis Wyatt, burning his own oil fields because he can. The law hasn't even taken effect yet. Why is he reducing his productivity now?
Because they know now they won't be able to afford it.

Any rational business owner would assess the increase expense this will cause, and pass those costs along to the consumer.
How do you know they haven't already run that analysis? Again, when did you speak to the employer?

No, they aren't all going to simply disappear, but the lowered demand will undoubtedly thin them out, resulting in less employment opportunities.

A business owner who cuts off their own nose to spite their face is not someone whose reactions are worth consideration when judging a government action.

And tell us one more time when you spoke to the business owners and were able to come to that conclusion?

Listen to yourself. You're espousing a world view where everyone is a perpetual victim and needs to cry in their Cheerios about the big meanie government. I don't support the hike. But I'm sure as hell not going to indulge a juvenile business owner throwing a tantrum simply because they're not getting what they want. Everything you're saying is based on indulging intentional weakness, and it's pathetic.

No one out chinzies The Hut.
If they are doing it so will many other places.

Either that or raise the cost of the pizza to be astronomical.

Typical Liberal fuck up.

The government needs to stay out of the business of dictating wages. That should be between the employees and employer.

This is not a logical assumption.
Sure it is. You can get a crappy McDonalds/Wendys/Whataburger meal ect. For the same price or more than a better quality burger from Red Robin,Chedders or Oneils.

Or even get a Shrimp and Steak/Chicken Holiday meal at Applebee’s for around the same price as a Big Mac meal.

Fast food is not supposed to cost a small fortune.

The media would not report mom and pop shops, this has large numbers that grab attention. This hike will decimate many smaller operations, and nobody will hear of it.

Likely pizza shops offering their own delivery will be a thing of the past with folks getting accustomed to Grubhub, DoorDash, and Uber Eats.

On the other hand, more and more restaurants have clued in that they're basically losing money by being available through gig service platforms at their regular rates. So many are increasing their prices there, which turns around to incentivize people to come back to buying direct again.

No, they have the state to blame. The business couldn't take on such an increase. The state did this. It's just another reason millions are leaving that third world dump state. Destitute and depraved. The state made it's bed now it must live in its vomit.

One thing about Liberals. They screw up everything they touch.

Just think of all the high school and college students that delivered pizza to make a little extra money that will lose their jobs.

Actually this is a very serious issue. If this continues to happen, states like California and other blue states won't have the financial means to continue to financially support the broke and ignorant red states.

If hard working people in blue states can't provide the welfare where will the red states end up?
