Hating Hatters
This article makes some interesting points.

Somebody who bombs a crowd of spectators or executes a cop as he sits in a patrol car is not a combatant, though he is truly an enemy of America and the rest of humanity. He is a killer.

To call him anything more than that is to play into the hands of our larger enemy, one that is harder to counter than any individual jihadi or even any particular organization.

The thornier threat America faces is that jihad has become a mechanism for losers of all sorts to obtain a sense of power and purpose.

Look at the individual hijackers who brought down the Twin Towers on 9/11. Each was almost certainly acting not so much out of true political or even religious conviction, as from some psychological need to become more than what they otherwise felt themselves to be.

These were not victims of oppression made stony-hearted by suffering and injustice, and driven to fight a larger power with the only means at hand. These were guys who felt little who wanted to feel big.

The OP is confused.

The bombers are terrorists.

Presumably the brothers would have described themselves as terrorists. I don't understand how they expected to change US policy to Chechnia - which policy is practically nonexistant, as far as I can tell.

The Chechens have suffered terribly in their longing to become an independent country, & their struggles against the USSR & now the Russian Federation. Both sides - or however many there are, the Chechen struggle has not gotten much coverage in the US media - have committed atrocities, bombings, political murders, assassinations, & on & on.

We'll simply have to wait to see what surfaces from the interrogations of the surviving brother.

But the terrorist label is too-well attached by now. Yah, these may have been small people trying to inflate themselves by attacking us - but terrorism is what they did.

telling the truth that is not all colored by right wing propaganda is not minimizing.

Kinda.

But it does fill the bill in terms of terrorism. What they did..they did because of a religious agenda.

They may not have been affiliated with a larger group. But this is what it is.

Terrorism.

Did you fall on your head? They're Terrorists, plain and simple.

Calling them MASS MURDERING RATS ASSES works for me. we got one dead mass murdering rats ass and we got one more to go. maybe he's get a bad ass infection and make it easy on us and just die. His father is the loser, he fucking raised two mass murdering rats asses.

I think so, too. But the article has a point. Most people, from Adam Lanza to the Columbine duo to these two fuckers, kill massive amounts of people because they are losers. Calling them something else does give them a sort of power. I'd almost rather say they are guilty of hate crimes, because that is one of the total loser crimes.

Terrorists are supposed to inspire terror, therefore they are controlling the situation. Losers are simply losers.

Maybe it's just too subtle for you all.

Good point. The mother as well.

no surprise ravi and TM minimize these guys actions

Where did I do that, loser?

by minimizing their actions. you ravi'd all over this thread and it is downright embarrassing. this wasn't just mass murder or injuries, this was a political or religious agenda and they did indeed seek to inspire fear. to claim otherwise is ludicrous.

if these two had been conservative gun nuts, you would be screaming bloody terrorism all over the board. you're transparent.
