But I do get the point- you were making a dishonest attempt at equating abortion and murder by guns.

Wrong again. I don't equate them. I say abortion kills far more people than guns by murder.

You posted a 'list of deaths in America' that was intentionally incomplete and inconsistent.

You are okay with looking for ways to reduce deaths by cancer, but object to any concerns by guns.

I do not object to reducing murder by guns. I'd like to see it at zero...as I would all of the others listed, including abortion. People whose solution to unwanted pregnancy is abortion should not get pregnant.

We don't just blame drivers for automobile deaths- we also look to the automobiles themselves- and the roads- and other drivers.

We blame autos directly when a mechanical failure causes death...as we should. I would do the same for an specific gun that malfunctioned and caused death of an innocent. We do not blame the automobile when one is deliberately driven into a crowd of people. We should not blame the gun when it is deliberately used to shoot innocent people.

None, I hope. Confiscating guns would do nothing to criminals. Disarming the public would be a terrible mistake.

After all this discussion, you still do not get the point of the OP. You are dense...or stupid...or obstinate...or all of the above.

Every time a shooting occurs, the liberals want more gun control laws and to promote the confiscation of privately owned guns. Guns are not the problem. It is the motivation of the shooters that cause them to use guns to kill innocent people.

Before guns, it was daggers and stones. A person with murder on his mind will find a weapon...or make one out of any of a number of things.

That's what I tried to explain to that idiot. He is of the mindset that if a gun isn't available, the murder won't ever occur.

That is the liberal way of "thinking" when it comes to guns. A weapon can be made of almost anything. I personally know a man that can kill you with either of his own thumbs. He was my bodyguard on a business trip to a red zone.

I keep several sharpened #2 wooden pencils at my desk. I sometimes carry a pair of scissors (even the small ones can be quite effective in producing a blood-gushing wound). A long (5 cell) flashlight can be used to literally crack a man's skull...or crush a man's larnyx. A silk tie can be quite effective...especially if it is already tied around the man's neck. (Always grab the small end...and pull it over his left shoulder around to the back of his neck...acts like a lasso and tightens the noose.)

Confiscation of weapons is not the answer.

Temporarily banning Muslim refuges may preclude a bunch of terrorists (posing as refuges) from getting a free pass into the country.

Which of course would be about the slowest and least effective way for any terrorist to enter the United States.

Why not just come in on tourist visa's? Or business' visa's? Even less background checking than refugees- and no need to wait around for a year or more in a refugee camp for the hope that you would be the random person chosen to come to the United States.

Or sneak across the Canadian border?

Not one of the terrorist attacks in the United States has been by a terrorist who came in as a refugee. Because that would be least efficient, and least likely way to get into the United States.

You forget that children in the refuge crowd can become terrorists years after they are given domicile here. Islam is a patient religion. It plants seeds in the minds of children. The fruit will come later.

You are obtuse. That fact has little to do with taking steps to prevent it from EVER happening.

That fact has a lot more to do with preventing terrorism attacks than bleating that refugees are the real threat.

Why you RWNJ's have decided that the REAL threat to America are the Middle Eastern refugees fleeing ISIS, whose families have been killed, lives ruined by ISIS, while the terrorists who have been attacking America have been:
a) Born in America- and radicalized here(this includes both Omar and Timothy McVeigh)
b) Came in on student, tourist or business visa's or
c) Come across the Canadian border

It is almost like you want America to not be watching the most likely suspects for future terrorism.

How you translate wanting to vet young, male, Muslims coming here from the major terrorist-producing countries into wanting not to watch out for home grown terrorists is beyond me. You sound as if we can do one or the other but not both.

I favor doing everything we can to prevent terrorists from acting in the USA. One way is to keep them out.
