I find this statement puzzling. In what way could this disease possibly become parallel to AIDS? The death rate of ebola varies depending on where it spreads. AIDS kills all of its victims but when they die depends on their treatment. These two diseases spread very differently as well.
If he were to say "this pandemic is the next Spanish flu", I would be freaked out. Instead he said AIDS. I mean as serious as the condition is I don't understand why he would make such a comparison.
