This justice resigned because he took a speaking engagement for a millionaire under SEC investigation. This for a sum of money an order of magnitude less, even adjusted for inflation than the 4 something million that Thomas took. Which is in turn an order of magnitude more than the second most grossing justice in this batch (Alito) with something under 200k.


The question is not if it's illegal. The question is that keeping your office is ACTIVELY hurting the perception of SCOTUS something Fortas understood and Thomas gladly ignores.
