Climatologists Got It Wrong with El Niño

This dumbass fraudulent thread, based on anti-science bullshit, was completely debunked in post #9.

Everything the denier cult dingbats have posted since then is just more meaningless twaddle.

Post #19 shows you don't have a clue.

Post #19 doesn't show squat, moron. Your demented OP got debunked and your weather summary doesn't help you at all.

Rainfall levels in California are way higher than in the preceding La Niña years, even if they are currently somewhat lower than in some previous El Niño years. Snowpack is averaging 93% statewide, and there are still three more months of rainy season to go.

But the real point of your fraudulent OP was this....

If they can't even get close to telling us the climate just a few months in advance, how can they justify telling us to change the economy for something they are predicting a centurys from now?

And, as I said in post #9....which you either didn't read or are just too fucking stupid and brainwashed to comprehend.....

Your OP is denier cult drivel that has nothing to do with the scientific facts about human caused global warming and its consequent climate changes and disruptions. It is based only on your abject ignorance and your anti-science distrust of scientists, plus a few crackpot conspiracy theories. Your moldy old denier cult myth has been repeatedly debunked for decades by almost every scientific organization on Earth that has anything to do with climate science. Your ignorance of that fact only highlights your complete ignorance about science, and climate science in particular.

In the real world....

WEATHER PREDICTION, CLIMATE PREDICTION. WHATS THE DIFF?

Totally devoid of reality... The alarmist cult is in desperation mode.. They lie about renewables (using name plate values rather than actual output) and they lie about everything else.. Dishonest and deceptive at every turn.

Climate Center just released this this morning. And most of Calif remains below average in precipitation and above average in temperature.
They missed it.

The impacts of warmer oceans in the eastern pacific have been opposite of what the climate experts predicted. Instead of storm tracks being centered upon SoCal they have risen above the Pacific Northwest. The result has been extremely dry conditions for SoCal this winter and below average snowfall for the Sierras.

If they can't even get close to telling us the climate just a few months in advance, how can they justify telling us to change the economy for something they are predicting a century from now?

In their defense they never truly made a prediction. Everything they ever say is always hedged with the magic words "might", "could" and "possibly". Climatologists stopped making real predictions years and years ago when the temperature leveled off while the CO2 kept rising.

Like all good charlatans they began using qualifiers with their "predictions" thus no matter what happened they would claim they predicted it.

NASA, NOAA Analyses Reveal Record-Shattering Global Temperatures

Earth’s 2015 surface temperatures were the warmest since modern record keeping began in 1880, according to independent analyses by NASA and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA).

Globally-averaged temperatures in 2015 shattered the previous mark set in 2014 by 0.23 degrees Fahrenheit (0.13 Celsius). Only once before, in 1998, has the new record been greater than the old record by this much.

The 2015 temperatures continue a long-term warming trend, according to analyses by scientists at NASA’s Goddard Institute for Space Studies (GISS) in New York (GISTEMP). NOAA scientists concur with the finding that 2015 was the warmest year on record based on separate, independent analyses of the data. Because weather station locations and measurements change over time, there is some uncertainty in the individual values in the GISTEMP index. Taking this into account, NASA analysis estimates 2015 was the warmest year with 94 percent certainty.

“Climate change is the challenge of our generation, and NASA’s vital work on this important issue affects every person on Earth,” said NASA Administrator Charles Bolden. “Today’s announcement not only underscores how critical NASA’s Earth observation program is, it is a key data point that should make policy makers stand up and take notice - now is the time to act on climate.”

The planet’s average surface temperature has risen about 1.8 degrees Fahrenheit (1.0 degree Celsius) since the late-19th century, a change largely driven by increased carbon dioxide and other human-made emissions into the atmosphere.

Mr. Westwall, we are supposed to be in a cooling trend according to your predictions of six years ago. So where the hell is that cooling. Three record years in a row is quite some cooling.

Ooooooh, yet more "shattered" records. Funny when they claim 58 degrees and change are some new record when they made the exact same claim back in 1998 and then the temp was 62 degrees and change. So, which is bigger? 62 or 58?

Both claims originated from NOAA, and both are "OFFICIAL" though the new claim is a true turd based on the 1998 claim.....

Correct, I should have said probability rather than prediction.
I'm still trying to weasel out of my contact at the climate center what their odds were last year that this winter would be another drought year in Calif. stay tuned.

Irrelivent to the topic of the thread. The thread is about climatologists saying there was a high probability of above average rainfall for SoCal, only to have record heat and extremely low humidity.

The way those boys were screaming El Niño, I am going to bet their prediction curve was very low for a drought year.

We had typical El Nino winter in Minnesota. Warm and wet except we had much more rain than usual and less snow than usual. 60 degrees today n the city and 90% of the snow is gone. We are entering March but it's like we are entering mid- April.
I love to snow shoe but it didn't happen this year, not enough snow, bummer.

Usually the El Nino winters in Oregon are a bit warmer than normal, and dryer than normal. This year has been warmer than normal, but also far wetter than normal. But El Nino weather is like all weather, a bit on the chaotic side. Right now, one of the affects we are seeing is that the Arctic Ice is very low for this time of year, and the Antarctic Ice is also very low. Normally, the Arctic ice seems to respond about a year after the El Nino.

LOLOLOLOL......."Interesting...and REALLY FUCKING HILARIOUS that you would consider that kind of silly high-schoolish nonsense either relevant or significant....LOL.....really shows the kind of childish level your mind is stuck on, WitheredMan....

Climate Center just released this this morning. And most of Calif remains below average in precipitation and above average in temperature.
The NOAA Climate Center PREDICTED, way back in October, that higher than normal temperatures would be hapoening now, and that has indeed happened....in spades in many places around California this year, especially LA and San Diego....so score one for them...LOL....and one more example of how stupidly gullible you are, WitheredMan....

And while they had expected more rain by now in southern California, and rainfall totals are somewhat lower currently than at this point in many previous El Niño years, so what? They said months ago that there was some inherent uncertainty with the weather patterns that develop from the El Niño conditions. Plus there are still three months to go before the end of the typical El Niño rainy season in June.

Here's what the Climate Prediction Center actually had to say last October...

Strong El Niño sets the stage for 2015-2016 winter weather
NOAA
October 15, 2015

Temperature - U.S. Winter Outlook: 2015-2016
(Credit: NOAA)

Forecasters at NOAA’s Climate Prediction Center issued the U.S. Winter Outlook today favoring cooler and wetter weather in Southern Tier states with above-average temperatures most likely in the West and across the Northern Tier. This year’s El Niño, among the strongest on record, is expected to influence weather and climate patterns this winter by impacting the position of the Pacific jet stream.

A strong El Niño is in place and should exert a strong influence over our weather this winter,” said Mike Halpert, deputy director, NOAA’s Climate Prediction Center.
While temperature and precipitation impacts associated with El Niño are favored, El Niño is not the only player. Cold-air outbreaks and snow storms will likely occur at times this winter. However, the frequency, number and intensity of these events cannot be predicted on a seasonal timescale.

Other factors that often play a role in the winter weather include the Arctic Oscillation, which influences the number of arctic air masses that penetrate into the South and nor'easters on the East Coast, and the Madden-Julian Oscillation, which can impact the number of heavy rain storms in the Pacific Northwest.

They missed it.
No, they didn't, no matter what lies your oil industry puppetmasters feed you.

The ignorant and fraudulent (and frankly insane) point of your OP - which amounted to claiming that: 'if one small group of climate scientists, who study the ENSO cycles in the Pacific for a sub-agency of NOAA called the Climate Prediction Center, can't predict the the exact weather events that are being driven by the El Nino phase of the ENSO, then all of climate science must be a hoax' - has been debunked an enormous number of times by professional scientists who have detailed the differences between predicting the weather and predicting the climate....and on this thread in post #9 by Dr. William Chameides - Professor of the Environment, and Dean of the Nicholas School of the Environment and Earth Sciences at Duke University.[/SIZE]

Of course, you anti-science denier cult dingbats just shut your eyes, put your fingers in your ears, and shout LA-LA-LA-LA-LA.....
