Could Sen. Bernie Sanders Become President?

look at the socialists of europe...they dont try and get everyone to earn the same thing
Because they are democrat socialists. But most of us don't want to give that much of our income to a nanny state. That isn't what made us number one in the world.

yes yes, the false machismo....."nanny state" ...you mean like social security?...would you do away with that?

medicare? environmental rules?

Bernie is also a democratic socialist...if he is a socialist at all.....

If he gets close to the nomination, yes, you can expect the MSM to come after him...they have already in some ways over some old paper. But if people put aside hack smears ...he can win.
What machismo? And why isn't yours machismo? Makes no sense.

Social Security doesn't have a trust fund, the politicians have raided it long ago. It's unsustainable so hell yes I would get rid of it. Do you want to pay 75% in taxes to fund retirees? The money would do better in a ROTH IRA of some sort. Medicare is in the same boat. We should have had incentives for health savings plans.

Environmental rules? It's gone way overboard and they want to go much further. We need government oversight, not government micro-management.

There's no hack smear, disagreeing with you isn't equivalent to hate or lack of information. Go Bernie go!

over the long term some claim IRA would do better, but areas of time when market is down would screw over huge swaths of people.

debatable about how far environmental rules go. lots of push-back by influential business against environmental rules...I doubt if they go way overboard.

There has already been a smear attempt against Bernie. Never said disagreeing with me is hate.

Interesting to watch, and I'd guess (I'm lousy at this stuff) that he could be the one with the prize if Hillary implodes for some reason, but otherwise I don't see it happening.

He's going to pull Hillary to the Left, though, and we'll see if that's a good thing or a bad thing.

.

We need to forget the fake left-right paradigm and begin discussing issues and solutions. I hear Bernie Sanders making sense for a change from the usual politician.

Liberals trot out the SS shit every chance they get...
What part of paying into a system and expecting a return dont you get?
If I had my way I wouldnt have paid a dime into the system.

Support for Social Security is not a 'liberal' position; it's a mainstream American position.

Calling a socialist a socialist isn't a smear. Yes, environmental regulations go too far these days and hurt/kill many industries. We should be using much more nuclear power for electricity. As far as the stock market goes, you can lose money if you pull everything out at a bad time, there could be something to limit withdrawals as part of some tax incentive to invest.

No. Sanders appeals to the far left consisting mostly of coastal white people. The identity politics coalition of minorities aren't going to turn out in sufficient numbers to offset how energized the right and moderates will be to keep a flaming socialist out of the White House.

It's a mainstream american problem because it can't continue. It was designed for people living about 5 years more with 30 people supporting it. Now it's less than 3 and people live a LOT longer. It has to be fixed or replaced.

It would be refreshing if the democrats stopped playing Alinsky games and were honest about stating their true agenda which is to turn the U.S. into a socialist country. The democrat party is on the verge of a monumental decision. They could nominate a good man and a war hero like Jim Webb or an avowed socialist like Bernie Sanders or camouflage their agenda by nominating an angry abused woman who spent her entire adult life lying and covering (felonies?) abuse committed by her husband and taking bribes to keep her mouth shut about his criminal enterprises. I expect democrats will take the easy road and nominate Hillary.

Yes, he can win. He has won elections in the past because he offers voters actual proposals instead of platitudes.

As far as I can see, there are no other candidates for president that actually provide real answers to questions. The others use the same old platitudes (restore freedoms, bring back jobs, strengthen defense, don't take my guns, family values, etc., etc.) that get votes but yield nothing tangible.

You should take Bernie seriously, because working Americans will like what they hear.

wasnt talking about calling him a socialist. he calls himself a socialist ..tho I dont think he even gets to European ideas of socislism.

that chart fails to take into account cost of living increases Im guessing

the existing SS system works fine and those who want a "privatized" system are just tools and mouthpieces for the finanace lobby.

Not a chance. If he did get the nomination, the country won't vote for another NE liberal in this environment.

another?..... Obama wasnt, g w bush wasnt, when was the last one?

Kerry
Dukakis
Kenney (Ted)

well none of them won themselves.

Actually I think this is the best environment for a NE liberal. Sanders is far more down to earth than these you listed tho.

Some might classify them as limousine liberals.

PORTLAND, Maine (AP) — Calling income inequality "the great moral issue of our time," Democratic presidential candidate Bernie Sanders urged a boisterous crowd of thousands in Maine on Monday to help him transform America by restoring a thriving middle class.

Bernie Sanders Draws Huge Crowd In Maine

I think, this election, we can make a real change and get some hope back if we stop looking for the showman and start looking for the statesman. What is wrong with the people of this country? Aren't you tired of electing people who are so interested in their own propaganda, that forget about our citizens? Seriously, it's enough. As for Bernie...what do you think about him? Can he handle it?

No, he will never become President. The Democrats will never nominate him, because he'd destroy their Wall Street cronyism. The American public would never elect an Independent, because Americans are still too stupid. And the Republicans would never lose to him, because him being a professed socialist is too easy to sling mud at. [Full disclosure: I'm well aware the preceding sentence is a grammatical monstrosity. I'm trying to be less pretentious and loquacious in my prose. Oops, I just failed.] President Sanders will never be.

Not a chance.

Bernie Sanders is the left version of Ron Paul. He will put on a show, and he will garner some interest but at the end of the day the Democrat Party will move quickly to keep him from being the Presidential Candidate of their party.

He would have been better off running third party if he really wanted to do something, but instead he ran Democrat.

Jim Webb is the only serious contender against Hillary when vying for the Democrat Ticket.
I watched several Jim Webb interviews and I still don't know where he stands. Does he know where he stands?

Bernie Sanders is nuts.
Income inequality is a total fabrication designed to trick voters into believing that a socialist can even out income to the point that everyone can earn the same thing.
The effects of such a policy is to remove incentive to excel because there is only so much money one can make.
It only sounds good to someone who has no earning potential due to lack of education, lack of work ethic, or the simple fact that there isn't enough money to go around.
Imagine what would happen to the cost of living if everyone made the same thing.
The only way it would work is if the government kept all of the money and just gave everyone whatever they needed.....keeping the best for themselves of course.

Who suggests that "everyone should earn the same thing"? Name the people who suggest that.

Sanders has a shot. The GOP candidates are going to give him lots of help....as they are going to spend most of their efforts on Hillary.

His message is clear...and he's not going to sugar coat it. He's an FDR democrat.
