COURTHOUSE >> The former head of the Montgomery County Republican Committee who pleaded no contest in November 2014 to charges of indecently assaulting a woman who worked at his law firm was deemed a sexually violent predator by the court on Friday.

Following a brief hearing on Friday morning, Senior Judge John Braxton deemed Robert Kerns, 67, a sexually violent predator.

Now that Kerns is classified as a sexually violent predator he will have to register his address with the state police, quarterly, for the rest of his life. He will also have to attend monthly counseling sessions.

This means that Kerns’ status has changed. When he pleaded no contest to the assault charge in November 2014, he was only required to register as a sex offender for the next 15 years.
