Doesn't the ACLU (American civil liberties union) represent all the people and not just militant lesbians? Wouldn't you think an entity that calls itself "civil liberties" would represent Ms. Davis's 1st Amendment freedom of religion instead of attacking her?

Did she ask them to represent her? Yes or No.

The ACLU attorneys operate on the 'parachute' method. Meaning, they seek out and find issues which support their political ideology then make inquiries as to whether or not the person or group wishes their legal representation.

Whitehall I can't answer for ACLU, but I think the answer could be that when Ms. Davis' freedom of religion means denying lawful freedom to other Americans it becomes a different issue than just her freedom of religion. And FYI, I know ACLU seems to take on some kooky cases, even the rumored ones like defending Limbaugh's right to Doctor-shop for Rx drugs in large quantities under several names, but I am happy they are around. And if you think about it, you might be too.
