Our current President was too much of a coward to attend the church services and funeral of former First Lady Barbara Bush. He sent his wife who sat with the Obama's and Clinton's, the only First Lady attending without her spouse. At least someone in the Trump family has some courage and class, but she is a member through marriage. No actual Trump blood flowing in her veins. Not a speck of Trump DNA.

Dip Obama and his sidekick showed up, must be bored in retirement, he probably showed up for a free meal.

It was a wise and courteous move on Trump's part. The acrimony between Trump and the Bush family may have started during the campaign but it certainly continues to this day. It would have been unbelievably disrespectful for him to attend the funeral.

He stated he didn't attend because as President he has to travel with such an extreme amount of required protection and it wouldn't be right so he sent the first lady. Rather thoughtful really

i believe sitting presidents have not attended funerals for first ladies in some time.

having said that, i don't think any decent human being would want to be within 50 miles of the cheeto, let alone have him attend a sacred ceremony for a loved one.

Otherwise, the President is avoiding an awful lot of social situations he should be taking part in, like throwing out the first baseball, attending the Correspondents' Dinner.... Skipping a First Lady's funeral is pretty big, I'd say.
