In fact, the appeals process does not even include a second look at the evidence and the court's conclusion as to guilt or innocence. When a case is overturned it is invariably on some procedural ground, and not indicative of an innocent person being convicted, then exonerated.

Drawing conclusions about the innocence of the accused based on convictions that are overturned on appeal is literally nonsensical.
