Sure they do.

But why?

Oh, right, 10+ million Biden illegals.

And of course they lie when they say it is already illegal for non-citizens to vote while conveniently leaving out that you CANNOT ask if they are a citizen. This bill would fix that and compel people to prove citizenship.

Democrats, lying? Is water wet?

The White House came out in staunch opposition to the House GOP's election integrity bill that is set to come to the floor this week, saying the measure would "do nothing" to protect federal elections and is redundant of current laws in place.

The Safeguard American Voter Eligibility Act, sponsored by Rep. Chip Roy (R-TX) and backed by former President Donald Trump, would amend the National Voter Registration Act of 1993 to require people to provide proof of citizenship before registering to vote.

"It is already illegal for noncitizens to vote in Federal elections — it is a Federal crime punishable by prison and fines," the White House said in a statement on Monday. "The alleged justification for this bill is based on easily disproven falsehoods."

...

Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) accused Democrats of wanting to "turn illegal aliens into voters" in a post on X on Monday.

"Why are Democrats so adamantly against ensuring only American citizens vote in our elections?" Johnson said. "We must pass the SAVE Act to prevent this."

You are correct. If illegals are not permitted to vote, then a law prohibiting them from doing so harms no one.

This is just like putting the stipulation at the end of a gun form that reads, "False statements on this application are subject to felony prosecution".

They claim that anyone but whites are not smart enough to have identification. So you would be limiting voting to just whites.
Democrats are really that crazy

Every non-citizen vote cancels-out the vote of an American citizen and it is a Voting Rights violation.
The Democrat Party is violating everyone's Right to Vote.
The Republican Party should make this an election issue.

You need a license in order to do basic things, such as driving, register a vehicle and purchase ammunition. Why isn't this same standard applied to voting, another constitutional right just like owning a firearm?
Where do you live that you don't have to prove citizenship to vote in a federal election?

The public pushback to any voter ID law is always something about the trouble people would have to go through. We all know the real reason is that they want to cheat.

The answer to the public pushback should be, yes, there is some effort to vote. It is a serious civic responsibility. There is no racial component to the requirements. Anyone who says minorities aren't capable of regular civic duties is just exposing their own racism. Anyone who doesn't want to be bothered to go through the process is just choosing not to vote.

It is against the law to ask someone. But they are all in on this, including the leftist League of Women Voters, in opposing proof of citizenship.

Last week a federal court ruled in League of Women Voters v. Harrington that a former U.S. Election Assistance Commission official violated federal law in 2016 when he allowed three states – Alabama, Georgia, and Kansas – to require documentary proof of citizenship on the federal voter registration form
...
In their lawsuit, plaintiffs argued that the proposed change to the federal voter registration form to require documentary proof of citizenship was unauthorized, violates federal law, and would deprive tens of thousands of voters of their fundamental right to vote and undermine the groups’ efforts to increase civic participation. Many American citizens don’t have a passport or birth certificate (Me: Birth certificates are very common, so BS), the most common types of document used to prove citizenship. A 2017 report found that in the first few years after the Kansas requirement was implemented in 2013, between 8% and 14% of new registrants were blocked (Me: Good, beacse most if not all had no right to vote or were trying to register under a false name).

But but I thought posters here told me yesterday that they can’t vote ( Unless it’s just BOS & School Board & Mayoral & City Council & Sheriff and Registrar of voters and …

Because it is not a federal law, the Constitution did not demand it and thus states require it, you never did tell where you live that you don't have to prove citizenship to get an I.D. or a D.L.

It is not against the law to ask someone if they are a citizen if you are an INS agent.

Yeah, there is a Federal law. I already posted the case.
