During his weekly press conference Thursday, House Speaker Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) criticized House Democrats for ignoring legislative process and using their gun control sit-in “stunt” to fundraise.

Ryan said that all the Democrats would need to do to get a vote on their proposed legislation is to get 218 signatures from members on a petition, as specified in House rules.

“That’s how the House works,” Ryan said. “It’s a well-known process. But they’re not doing that.”

“We are not going to take away the constitutional rights of law-abiding Americans,” Ryan said.

“If this isn’t a political stunt, then why are they trying to raise money off this, off of a tragedy?” Ryan said.

The first three statements say all I need to know:
"A Republican state legislator in Tennessee is defending his decision to give away two AR-15 assault rifles, the same model used in America’s worst mass shooting by a lone gunman, despite outrage over the promotion." The AR-15 is NOT an assault rifle. Assault rifles are, by definition automatic, the AR-15 is not.

"Prior to the Orlando massacre early Sunday morning, state representative Andy Holt had organized the “HogFest & Turkey Shoot!” fundraising event, with plans to give away one of the semi-automatic rifles as a “door prize.”" This was pre-planned. To cancel would be to give the reprobate gunman more power.

"Instead of canceling in honor of the victims, he doubled down and threw a second AR-15 into the prize box." Good for him, now there will be TWO more guns out there to potentially stop future attacks.

To post this "story" in an apparent attempt to smear Congressman Holt, is just another leftist attempt at partisan politics as usual, when what we need is to unite.

Holt is right when he said (from the same story),""It has nothing to do with the style of weapon. It has everything to do with who’s behind the weapon," Holt told The Tennessean."

The weapon used in the Orlando terrorist attack was NOT an AR-15. It was a Sig Sauer MCX .223-caliber rifle. But please, don't let the facts get in the way of your rant.

The NRA actually backed a piece of legislation introduced in the House for a vote last week, calling for anyone being on the 'No Fly List' be notified and having 3 days to dispute it and NOT being able to buy a gun as long as they are on the list. This bill was one of 2 the Democrats killed by voting against them...right before having their Publicity Stunt / Fund-Raising 'Circle Jerk' during which they blamed the defeat of ALL 4 of the bills voted on.

What!!!?? I NEVER said anything about what weapon was used in ANY attack. Where are you getting this from? Are there voices you hear and no one else?
By the way, what facts that I presented, are you disputing? The FACT that an AR-15 is not, by definition, an assault rifle? Or maybe you are disputing one of the several quotes I included from a source story I didn't even find myself, another poster did!!!
