Nothing about this surprises me. I heard some one put it well, high school students can tell you all about billies 2 mommies and anal sex but they can't read.

I thought that they had found the "average generational increase" wasn't as wide as it used to be - like it was 20ish points (or w/e I don't recall) to only 10ish points in modern times?

Shrug - It's all relative, anyone can make themselves "smarter" at any age if they put their mind to it (pun intended.) I was 165 when I tested in HS (was a freshman), my MENSA official was 195 (that was in 1993), and the last one I took last year was 215 (that was a non-MENSA qualifier though so I'm sure there's testing variance, I should dig up a MENSA certified test.) Anyway, I've continued to learn many new things so my IQ keeps going up. Sadly I'll probably not make my "ultimate goal" of being the smartest person in the world - I started pushing for it too late in my life heh
