This is a good piece on why gun free zones called schools are dangerous for our kids…

and how to make them safer…

Articles: Still in Denial: Three Years After Sandy Hook

Let’s get real. The failed “hide and hope” lockdown procedure is obviously not a survival strategy, and must be replaced with highly effective redundancy systems much like what schools have put in place to prevent death by fire.

For example, undercover armed security should be on every campus with signs posted accordingly. More and more schools are following Utah’s lead by allowing voluntary carrying of concealed firearms by lawful and well-trained school personnel. These schools have an advantage over a would-be killer who won't know who is armed and who isn't.

Don’t trust armed teachers? Did you know that Utah schools have allowed armed personnel for well over a decade? Schools in Harrold, Texas are going on their ninth year, yet there have been no shooting attempts by bad guys or even mishaps by the armed good guys.

In fact, in his 2011 seminar Bulletproof Mind Lt. Col. Dave Grossman stated he “cannot find one single case where a multiple homicide happened in a school when there was armed security present in that building.” Now, that’s security!

School administrators who insist on creating gun free zones -- more accurately called “killing zones” -- are legally liable for the safety of every child and staff member. It would therefor be wise for them to seriously rethink why, after all this time and so many attacks, they still haven’t applied the same standards against school massacres as they have for fire. Remember, it may be our natural God-given right to defend ourselves, but it’s also our duty to defend our children.

Our children's schools have armed guards, the decision to do that was brought before parents and voted for in a landslide. Parents want their children safe

Bullying is the reason that some students bring a gun. Get rid of the cultural marxist dryhumper teachers. Then the bullying will stop.

By all means, let's have no gun free zones in courts, government buildings, mental health care facilities, hospitals, churches and the like, bars, police stations, day care centers, nursing homes, prison visitor centers, half-way houses, drug addiction recovery facilities, and of course, the schools, all schools. Arm everyone, what could possibly go wrong...

I'm not sure there are many negatives to more armed security. In a country with a ridiculous number of guns it is probably necessary. I don't think you just arm anyone.

we don't arm anyone. Criminals and the mentally ill can't own them. Normal gun owners don't shoot people. armed security sure seems to work for the politicians who voted to create gun free zones for your kids...I don't see them giving up their armed security.

Wrong....Courtrooms are not gun free... the guards have guns......and they have immediate backup of more guys with guns right at the courthouse.

try again.

"Discussion on school gun free zones…why they are dumb…..."

The only thing ‘dumb’ is the thread premise.

There is no evidence whatsoever that criminals seek out mythical ‘gun free zones’ to commit mass shootings.

There is no evidence whatsoever in support of citizens carrying firearms in public venues have the ability to ‘thwart’ a mass shooting incident; indeed, such a situation would likely cause more casualties.

Citizens have the right to carry firearms pursuant to the right of self-defense, not to act in the capacity of ‘law enforcement.’

Last, gun owners carry concealed firearms in many places whether it’s allowed or not or legal or not, it’s naïve to believe otherwise, which is why there’s no such thing as a ‘gun free zone.’

Our wonderful benevolent all knowing government should take all guns from all criminals. Then the problem is solved.

yes...there is evidence. and I have posted it over and over...that you have seen it and deny it means you are lying. We have all posted actual news stories of normal people, with guns stopping various mass shooters.....that you know these stories and then post that they don't exist shows that you are a liar.

They do?

Then my family must be abnormal.

We've owned firearms since this country began, and other than one arrested on suspicion, no one has even fired at someone else, other than during war.
