Recent Media reports are that health insurance companies operating on the ACA exchanges are seeking double digit rate increases for 2018 this is on top of the double digit rate increases for 2017. This should be shocking and alarming to politicians in "both" parties. The primary reason the insurance companies are providing for the need for these increases is the insurance pools aren't large enough more specifically there is an inordinate amount of enrollees in their insurance pools with serious health problems and not enough healthy people in the pools to spread out the costs to treat these enrollees with health problems.

This past friday Senate Democrat leader Chuck Schumer wrote the Senate Republican leader Mitch McConnell a letter essentially calling for a meeting where both parties can agree to embark on a bipartisan effort to fix America's health care system, it said "Please accept our invitation to sit down together in the old Senate Chamber so we can hear your plans and discuss how to make health care more affordable and accessible in the United States". The problem I have with this Democrat reach out and every American who really cares about this problem should have is that the Democrats aren't showing their serious about a bi-partisan effort. The truth is that these recent price increase developments indicate America has a health insurance "urgent crisis" the American people don't need to hear from the Democrats we support "affordable and accessible" health everybody supports that that has no value. Concerned Americans want to know your plans on how you propose to make that a reality.

The way it stands now I fear and every prudent American should fear that what the Democrats are up to hear is a "bait and switch" tactic where they are conniving to get the Republicans to drop their effort to repeal and make worse America's healthcare system and once the Republicans agree to a bi-partisan effort then the Democrats come out with a position that we are only agreeing to a plan that increases taxes on the wealthy to put into the system and a plan that makes available a government sponsored health insurance plan across the country for every county that lacks insurance. To prudent good Americans that want a good solution here this is a non-starter the wealthy are paying enough with the current added taxes and a government sponsored health insurance will cost a fortune this will make the problem dramatically worse what the system obviously needs is cost controls and moving the money around the Federal government already puts into the system to help lessen the burden of people with pre-existing conditions on the individual insurance market. The Democrats need to come out with specific bipartisan plans they will support to show that they are serious and acting with good faith about a bi-partisan effort here otherwise they deserve the Republicans blowing up America's healthcare system!

The current system means I can't afford to go to the hospital, not even one time. The system needs to be fixed.
