Do we need military bases in foreign countrie?

WE shouldn't want to be there, there's no point. What are the troops in Saudi Arabia doing there anyways?

There at the Saudi's invitation so they can protect their oil from anyone and everyone who'd want to take over, a La Saddam or to disrupt the oil flows to our trading partners.

Half our membership need to brush up on their current events.

"There at the Saudi's invitation so they can protect their oil from anyone", "their oil" meaning the US' oil? Hmmm, don't think so.

Some members need to brush up on "there" grammar.

Just an aside? Are YOU the same 'Infidel' that used to be here?

OK, look at the my post. I amended the statement to make it suitable for a young person's level of understanding.

I think I'm right about the grammar thing, too.

LOL, stupid answer in that thread and no answer here. We can do all of those things without land bases all over the world.

If we had a sane energy policy we would not have to worry about the flow of oil from the arabs, russians, and venezuelans.

BTW, our bases in South Korea and Taiwan have nothing to do with oil or shipping lanes.

Ignorant fool. Thank goodness the likes of you are and will always be irrelevant.

Lets talk about this. Why do we have military bases in foreign countries? What national interest are they protecting? Should the host country pay for the base? Should we close them unless the host country pays?

Why is it our role to protect South Korea and Japan from China?

Why is it our role to protect Germany from Russia?

We are the leaders of the free world...or will be again when we get rid of Obabble. We need alliances to position assets to kill people who need to be killed. Those we protect should bear some of the cost...if they refuse we can leave them to the wolves if that is our desire.

We have bases overseas because of World War 2. We stayed in Europe to prevent the USSR from invading the rest of Europe and to prevent them from invading Japan. I see a pattern here regarding those shitbags in Russia.

We can't allow World War 3 to happen so we have our military overseas in the face of China, Russia, North Korea, Iran, etc.

Pulling back to our borders here ends up making most of Europe and most of Asia like Crimea in the long run.

The scumbags in Iran, China, Russia, etc...would love the stupid fuck plan to surrender their parts of the world to them. See what happens to the price of oil and other goods. Our economy is reliant on freedom of the seas, land, etc.

If you don't like it, go live in a cabin in Alaska....

PAST TREATIES...That is WHY were are where we are. Should we just abolish the treaties and tell these folks that they're on their own from now on?

Yes. We can always go back in later, but our troops wouldn't take the initial hit for nothing.

Maybe you missed the 8,000,000,000 posts where he asks the same question over and over and over and over and over...

Short-sighted nonsense always ends up costing more (in every sense) in the long run.

you libs want the defense budget cut

Who are "you libs," and when did you ever see me call for cuts to the defense budget? Get your shit straight before you post, moron.

Besides, its all Americans who want the defense budget cut.

Bloat doesn't even begin to describe the juggernaut of waste we call call "defense" and what President Obama is doing is not "cutting the defense budget". Not even close.

If Russia attacks Germany they'll pour in so many tanks and shit that Germany and our troops would be overrun quickly. So what's the point of having troops there?

Why have police? It costs money to have police. Imagine if the police only patrolled downtown, they didn't go out to your neighborhood....I bet the criminals would see that pretty quickly.

The same can be said about terrorists, dictators, etc that are in various corners of the planet. If the US isn't there to stop them....they see that pretty quickly.

The brain of a twit on display. :cuckoo::badgrin:

Countries that don't tell everyone what to do and don't attack other countries for no reason don't get attacked, like Canada, Sweden...

You're too stupid to know where to begin.

Have you been to Germany? I lived there 3 times...in the military working at HQ USEUCOM, uh the center of all things in Europe for the US military.

Do you believe Russia is on Germany's border?

Do we have bases in Germany?

Is Germany a member of NATO?

First see if you can answer some questions, twit.

Shitbag....Canada and Sweden are protected by the US.

They are like the little dog hiding behind the German Shepherd.

You're such a fucking idiot.

If we pull all of that home, what will all the troops do? We'll have to downsize to relative levels of a nation our size with few true threats. And save a lot of money.

GOP....you for that?

Obama doesn't give a shit about the troops, he is cutting their manning, cutting their pay, cutting their benefits and cutting their weapons systems.....

"The GOP" is not for attacking the military, that is your insane assholes doing that.
