Do you drink soda? STOP THAT SHIT AT ONCE!

Giant amounts of high-fructose corn syrup are proven to have bizarre, long-term health effects on most vital organs, that is a fact. The reason it's harmless when you eat fruit is that the physical structure of fruit fibers actually prevents your intestines from absorbing the majority of the fructose; you taste the fructose in your mouth, but your body absorbs very little of it. When you're thirsty, do what I do: have a massive vessel of condensation-dripping icewater next to you at all times. Very refreshing. And when I'm feeling really bold, I squeeze a tiny spurt of lemon juice into my icy water slush.

Let me tell you a true anecdote: back in 2016 I had a blood test in the Dr. office and most of my cholesterol levels were perfectly normal except my highly elevated triglycerides (which in itself doesn't cause heart disease, but they can cause build up of bad cholesterols that do cause heart disease). It didn't take me much Internet homework to learn that HFCS is the ultimate triglyceride bogeyman villain. So I completely quit soft drinks rights then and there forever. Then only a few months later I had another blood test and my triglyceride levels were cut in HALF, almost back down to a normal level. And my only lifestyle difference was my lack of daily soft drinks. At the very least, it's food for thought.

When thirsty, drink icewater, not soda. I can't stress that enough.
All that info must come from the state of Calif, the land of nuts.

And I'll bet your trolling comes from a 350-pound, soda-guzzling, junk-food-wind-tunnel, "island-unto-herself" of a woman who looks like she inhaled another woman. What would obese human dirigibles like you know about health? I'm 45, 5-foot-7 and only 140 pounds so I must have been doing something right health-wise to be as lean and athletic as I am for my age.

Most people dont realize that soda has to be transported as a hazmat danger. That shit will literally kill you regular or diet.
The only reason beer and other alcoholic beverages aren't is a special exception to the regulations.
What special exceptions are you talking about?

I use to drink rum and coke. I’m now a Guinness guy.

Traded one sugar fix for another?
I guess I did.
I’ve developed a taste for dark beer. I’m enjoying one right now. :)

Don't drink to much or you'll get fat.

You have figured out that this thread is about sugar intake?
I’ll keep that in mind if I start getting fat.

Let's see, what have we learned?

Caffeine and Nicotine and sugar are addictive.

Coca Cola is classified as a hazardous material by the DOT. LOL!

Exceptions to the Hazardous Materials Regulations for the Transportation of Alcoholic Beverages - 49 CFR 173.150(d) - Daniels Training Services

I thought we were talking about coke.

I worked with a guy who drank two 64 oz bottles of coke a day without fail. One day he collapsed and they carried him out on a stretcher. He showed up at work again 6 months later having to wear braces on both legs. He looked like death, skin color was all gray. The guy was about 40 at the time.
The phosphoric acid in cola leaches calcium from the bones and leads to osteoporosis.

Additionally, the caramel color in dark colas is a known carcinogen.

A 12 ounce soda contains 12 teaspoons of sugar/HFCS equivalent.

The sweeteners in diet cola are all linked to endocrine disruption and some are also carcinogens.

Soda is to be avoided as much as possible; I’m very grateful that in my childhood it was an occasional treat and I never developed the addiction so many people have.

I drink water almost exclusively, having given up milk several years ago. I also drink coffee and tea, which are water with the benefit of added antioxidants.

Here’s a great tip; if you drink tap water and yours has any kind of funny taste, drink it very cold - the cold will minimize any flavor from water treatment process. Cold water also raises metabolism.

“Drink water”

Another Great Leap Forward for science! :26:

It most certainly is, in a basic, common-sense manner. Our bodies are what, 85% water?
Depends on age and gender; @ 60% in general.

Food.

Rum goes better with tropical fruit juices anyway. That's what the mai-tai drink is based on. Far tastier than the rum and coke, which I utterly hated.
I’ve never ordered a drink with fruit juice unless it was for a lady.

You’re missing out. There are some awesome cocktails with fruit juice.
I’m sure they are.
Again; I’m a Guinness guy. I’ll leave the fruit drinks to the ladies.

In my single years I found that women drinking with me wanted something hard.

Heheh, you know in that context "hard" can be taken in multiple different ways.

Finally.....

Ask him to provide a link or admit he is passing gossip.

I've witnessed enough chronic bad health in enough chronic soda drinkers that I do, in fact, find that believable based on my own observations. I don't believe a link is really urgently necessary in this case.

I drink 2 to 4 liters of diet soda a day have for MANY years. Other then normal ailments I have NONE of what you describe.

I've spent much of my adult life working in various medical-paperwork-bureaucrat jobs and two medical absolutes I've noticed A.) Every lung cancer victim has been an 80-something senior who massively smoked their entire life and B.) Senior citizen patients who guzzle Coca-Cola (including a few of my older, late relatives) are always riddled with nagging, chronic, weird health problems throughout their bodies on and on. There is no reason to believe any good can happen to you from drinking a Coke, no matter what anyone here thinks of me.
