Knowing this, and that a police response could be over 15 minutes, if I am a law abiding citizen and turn in all my firearms that are no longer legal, how do you intend to protect me from the person who decided they are not going to turn in their illegal firearms. And they do a home invasion with a 30 round magazine AR-15, and all I have is a 3 round pump shot gun, or a .22 bolt action rifle?

I'm in the UK, how have I been protected from illegal firearms for over 50 years? Do Americans think adequate firearm regulations and reduced incidents would happen overnight if say a UK system was brought in? It takes generations.

If you were brought up in a culture where you locked your firearm away when not in use, you don't carry and/or use a gun in public, and you go through a meaningful wide ranging background check, your orientation towards guns will be totally different.

Owning a gun is down to the person in the UK, if they've led a life to make themselves unsuitable, they can only blame themselves. Orientation to firearms is cultural, probably most to all Americans wouldn't pass a UK firearm application.

We can do more to protect children

One of the best things we could do is protect children from the other children who are a clear danger to others.

But we don't do that because we love our Victim Culture. So we run after the dangerous children, thinking we can rehabilitate them. Whether we can or cannot, we don't protect the others in the meantime.
