DOJ won't prosecute AG Garland for contempt for refusal to turn over audio from Biden, Hur interview

That makes no sense. If we have the transcripts, why can't we have the audio?
Because Biden likely doesn’t come off well in it. When you get a transcript you do t get all the ums, uhs, pregnant pauses, mumbling etc you get in an audio recording. If Biden sounded sharp as a tack in the recording they would have already released it.

In 2019 the DOJ also declined to bring charges against then Attorney General Bill Barr after a House vote to hold him in contempt for failing to comply with congressional subpoenas.

This does show consistency

DOJ provide the transcript to congress so why does congress need the audio. The information was provided.

well played by DOJ

subpoenas are used to compel testimony when information is not provided voluntarily.

I guess since the Biden impeachment failed they will try and try again

yes the consistency is that the establishment government doesn't hold itself to the same standard as regular citizens. And more to the point it really depends on the political implications which determines whether it's going to hold one individual over another accountable.

Sigh. sure, couch, sure.
Sure what? I know you don't want the laws to be applied to everyone equally (specifically not to your team) but that's not how our system works. Nor should you want it to. Would you be cool if this type of standard were also applied to a Trump administration? So someone submits a FOIA request and they edit the information and give them what they want them to see and uses the excuse that it would hurt them politically to release the unedited version?

This is AG Holder and "fast and furious" all over again.

Have you learned nothing?

The AG is the one who decides who gets prosecuted and who doesn't. And just like under Holder, the AG will not decide that he broke the law and should be prosecuted.

Correct, because Democrats are not subject to US Law.

According to the article, GOP members on the committees have openly stated that they want the audio recordings to "illuminate Hur’s comments about the president’s memory and offer insights into his mental acuity."
So, given that the committees already have the transcripts from these interviews, it’s plain as day that they only want the audio recordings so they can try to use it to depict Biden as being too old to be president, while knowing full well that the presumptive Republican candidate is only 3 years younger than Biden.

You understand that the transcript was tampered with, yes?

Hurr said he was incompetent to stand trial.

Briben willingly stole classified documents and shared them.

If the transcript is not adequate for not pressing charges, then the tapes are needed.

Hurr is not competent to judge President Biden's mental health. He's a lawyer, not a medical professional.

Biden did not steal or share any classified documents. That's just your MAGA fantasy.

If the transcript is not adequate for 'pressing charges' it's because there is no valid reason to 'press charges'.

Yeah there is, the White House already stated the transcripts have been edited. Congress has every right to hear the unedited truth.

That's weird, the White House does not have the transcripts. The DOJ does.

Kinda sounds like you're making up pure BULLSHIT!
