With the impending implementation of a 20% tax hike against Mexcrement imports; the door has been flung open even wider for American businesses, and workers. As the price of Mexican imports rise; fellow American consumers will seek cheaper alternatives.

This single move not only applies the necessary leverage to motivate the Mexican government to come crawling to the negotiating table; It also strenghthens the domestic market. Which is a win for manufacturers, employees, and consumers.

Go Trump! USA! USA! USA!

I vote Tax money transfers back to Mexico. I am not sure tarrifs will work? Its complicated. I am on tablet. Others may argue for my point.

About the only thing they send us, that we can't produce; is tequila. And technically we could. But like bourbon; it is the locale from which it originates, that authenticates its namesake.

It's only an idea that has been floated, there's nothing in stone at this point.

Trumps ideas have an uncanny knack for coming to fruition.

Those products will be sold to US. Who do you think will pay for the 20% tax hike?

I wouldn't bet on this one doing so. By law he would have to impose the same border tax on all nations that export to the US. I see it more as a negotiating tactic.

What law would prevent singling out Mexico? Consider, Cuba was cut off by JFK. As usual, IMO, trump speaks and/or tweets without thinking. He has in five days pissed off the leaders in Mexico and China. COTUS gives the Senate the power of advice and consent on treaties, there is no power given The Congress to prevent trump from acting thoughtlessly.

The tax is merely one of many ideas which are being considered. It may not make the final cut.

Taxing remittances is the best. That is money going directly out of this country. It will not generate sales tax, nor spent on any American product or service.

Yay. All the stuff we used to make and sent over there to manufacture. Not only jobs but quality improvements.

This is something that should have been done long ago.

We did that a long time ago. And it cost so much to make products here ( much much higher today) that we cannot compete here and overseas.
