But save California? So says this Guardian article. And, of course, there's a side to this that will stir a whole lot of controversy.



Furthermore, the US Congress should consider relaxing the ethanol mandate for this coming year so that excess corn supplies can be redirected for international food trade rather than turned into fuel. International lending agencies should consider temporary repayment relief for tropical countries who may need to prioritize avoiding famine and social instability over debt repayment this year.

Ethanol mandates AND subsidies should be on a phase-out. Burning food in our cars while the tropics starve is never a good plan..

And "the tropics" ought to have learned by now how to mitigate a natural cycle that probably contributed to the demise of the Mayans..
 
What do you think "the tropics" has known since the demise of the Mayans?
