<div class="bbWrapper">Ok, well let&#039;s actually take a look at federal jobs.<br /> <br /> Most of them require a 4 year college degree. With that same degree, one could do much better in the private sector. My dad had an engineering degree and worked for the MMS for 42 years before he retired. He passed up MUCH better paying jobs to have his job which gave him better home time and better retirement. With that same degree he could have worked for a drilling company and made twice as much. <br /> <br /> But imagine that, a job that requires a 4 year degree actually pays pretty well. And these jobs don&#039;t pay that much the day you start. After 40 years, my dad was in charge of an entire drilling district in the Gulf of Mexico and he didn&#039;t make half of those salaries you people mention. But he did get steady pay raises over 40 years.</div>
