Fed says taxes, cuts have hurt | Business | The Register-Guard | Eugene, Oregon

The Federal Reserve cautioned America’s political leaders Wednesday that their policies are hurting the economy. The Fed stood by its aggressive efforts to stimulate the economy and reduce unemployment. But it sent its clearest signal to date that tax increases and spending cuts that kicked in this year are slowing the economy.
But several reports in recent weeks have suggested that the economy might be weakening. Employers added only 88,000 jobs in March, far fewer than the 220,000 averaged in the previous four months. On Friday, economists expect the government to report that employers added about 160,000 jobs in April.

Joel Naroff, chief economist at Naroff Economic Advisors, said he viewed the Fed’s more forceful remarks on the issue as criticism of Congress’ fiscal policies.

“The Fed noted that the private economy is pushing ahead, but it is the government that is putting roadblocks in the way,” Naroff said. “That was as clear a shot at Congress as I have seen the Fed take.”

Obama’s economy: Two food stamp recipients for every job created
Thursday, July 25, 2013 > For every job the White House claims to have created — 7.2 million now — two more Americans were added to the nation’s food stamp program, federal statistics reveal.
In January of 2009, more than 32 million Americans received help from Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, which doles out food stamps. In April 2013, that number grew to almost 48 million. That means almost 16 million more American have jumped on the food stamp bandwagon since President Obama took office in 2008, Breitbart reported.

Meanwhile, the White House most recently claimed the creation of 7.2 million jobs, Breitbart reported. Do the math: The ratio of food stamp recipients to job creation under Mr. Obama since 2008 is 2-to-1.

Meanwhile, Breitbart reported, an estimated 9.5 million workers have dropped from the labor force — given up on their job searches — since Mr. Obama assumed the White House. Another 1.6 million signed up to collect disability insurance, Breitbart said.

The truth behind the topic of this thread:

The Federal Reserve has explicitly criticised budget cuts imposed by Congress, blaming fiscal policy for holding back the US's economic recovery.

Umm...No, perhaps you should read the FOMC statement that the story you linked refers to , doesn't even mention budget cuts, the guardian just made that part up (big surprise, huh?).

Government breaks a man's legs, hands him a crutch, and then says if it wasn't for government that man couldn't walk.

Another fake headline. The Fed didn't mention congress. When are lefties going to stop whining about only controlling 2/3 of the federal government?

I can't take credit for that. I heard it somewhere else and thought it was brilliant.
