The population in 2003 was 290,107,933. 6% unemployment means 17,406,476 people were out of work. In 2013 the population was 316,128,839. 7.4% unemployment means 23,393,534 people were out of work. So 5,987,058 more people were unemployed in 2013. And even more were under employed and financially hurting. Could that have anything to do with smaller numbers of Girl Scouts?

And what is wrong with combating the issue of body image? It is a serious problem among teenage girls.

And "eating local" or trying to reduce pollution certainly seems more relevant than earning merit badges on archery or pottery. And have those other merit badges disappeared? I know of a local Girl scout camp that still has canoes, builds campfires, and teaches woodcraft.
