RCP Twitter - @fivethirtyeight - GOP turnout in Florida will likely be just under 1.7m tonight, down from 1.95m in 2008. - 12/31/69.

Consider that. Except for SC (where Newt won) turnout in GOP primaries have been down in every state.

Keep in mind, the Romney winning math is (Everyone who voted for McCain) + (10% of Obama's vote switching side).

This number indicates he isn't likely to acheive either. People are just giving up. Not only is no one switching sides, a lot of Republicans who got excited in 2008 aren't even bothering to show up in 2012.

I know it is hard to imagine anyone illiciting LESS excitement than the crop in 2008...but ya'll are nominating Romney, what do you expect?

Well, I'm not. I'm voting third party if this idiot is the nominee.

Yes, why did Palin not run again?

Why doesn't anyone run? Frankly, I'm more worried about the kind of people who run for office, what kind of complete sociopath you have to be to put up with that shit.

We'd do better picking names out of the phone book.

some one is figuring out democracy.

You see when you dont win it should be because people choose the other guy or chose not to vote.

Now think about just how mad those people would be if they were KEPT from voting like so many Florida Democrats were with republican Kathleen Harris florida Felons list.

That might make you really fucking mad huh?

Jesus, TM, are you STILL whining about the felons who were purged from the voting list in 2000?

Um, you're full of shit.

New Hampshire voters turned out in record numbers in Tuesday’s Republican presidential primary.

According to the secretary of state’s office, there were 247,223 ballots cast in the GOP primary – beating the previous high of 241,039 Republican ballots cast in 2008. The turnout represented 45.4 percent of total registered Republican and undeclared voters, as of Dec. 14.

Early this morning as the GOP field flew swiftly East toward next Tuesday's electoral battlefield in New Hampshire, the Iowa Republican Party announced that former Gov. Mitt Romney, who was upset there four years ago, finally won the state's caucuses -- by a total of 8 votes out of a new record of 122,255 cast.

Blinded by your bigotry, as usual.

Many were not felons.

many were merely voters who were cheated OUT of their vote by a republican party

Guy, those number barely account for increases in population... it was less than 1% in Iowa and about 2% in NH.

Again, given that-

1) No Democratic contest
2) All the young people brought in by the Ron Paul movement

and these non-increases are actually a decrease in participation...

And you are still working off a link that says Romney won Iowa... Where have you been. Santorum did.

you are basing this liberal circle jerk... on a single TWITTER feed, with no corroboration elsewhere?

wow.

Eyes focused on Florida as GOP primary voting draws to a close
Voter turnout across Florida has been low, although it's considered much larger when early voting is factored in.

Total voter turnout, including mail-in, drop-off and early ballots, registered at 26 percent. Pinellas voting officials are hoping for 30 to 35 percent total by the end of the voting day.

Across Hillsborough County, 10 precincts reported higher turnouts, with more than 11 percent casting ballots today.

Broward County Has Lowest Republican Primary Voter Turnout in Florida - Broward/Palm Beach News - The Daily Pulp
The state's overall turnout was 41.2 percent

First Read - 143,000 have voted already in Florida GOP primary
Florida GOP, more than 143,000 votes have already been cast in the Florida primary through absentee and early votes.

When you include the early votes, you're looking at a drop off of barely 6% from 2008. However, Romney's votes actually went UP compared to his 2008 numbers in FL.

So, by all means, continue the libtard circle jerk. Let's see what the turnout is for the Dems when the time comes.

Romney During Victory Speech:

TAMPA, FL—Following a decisive win in tonight's Florida primary, presidential candidate Mitt Romney took a moment during his victory address to reflect on the current crop of Republicans vying for the party's nomination, telling the gathered crowd he "[had] to admit that, overall, it's a pretty weak field." "No question about it, you're looking at a bunch of duds," Romney said to his supporters, who grew silent as the former Massachusetts governor added that it was hard to imagine any of the GOP contenders, himself included, being president of the United States. "Republican voters have been dealt a crappy hand, and that's all there is to it. It's like the year the Democrats had Michael Dukakis and Gary Hart—maybe even worse. To be perfectly honest, our party's in a weird, transitional phase right now. We don't really know who we are, what we stand for, or what it is we're even trying to do. On the other hand, in 2016, we should be stacked: Paul Ryan, Chris Christie, Mitch Daniels. Lot of great options there. This year is garbage, though, and I sincerely apologize for that. Anyway, off to Nevada." Romney then exited the stage to zero applause, got into his car, and was driven to the airport.

Point is, it was a drop off.

Now you compare that to 2008, where there was enthusiastic participation in the Democratic primaries, and a vigorous contest between Obama and Clinton, where twice as many people voted as did in the GOP contests and it went down to the very last state.

Here. Meh. Okay, guess we all got to fall in line and vote for Romney, I guess. Or someone will say you are a "bigot" if you don't want a guy who thinks he's wearing magic underpants near the nukes.

The only reason why you don't have much worse numbers in these contests is becaus of all the enthusiasm Ron Paul is bringing. (And I'm not a Ron Paul fan, but at least there's some passion going on there.)

Dude, I knew it was "The Onion" about halfway through. Although it's getting harder to tell the Onion from real news anymore.

i wonder if this is due to the onion, or due to the clowneries in the gop primary.

If the republican controled state of Florida doesnt keep black voters from voting this time arround Obama will win the state.

You said turnout was down in the other contests. It's demonstrably not. Your spin is amusing.
