There are no laws but if you hang around enough 'liberals' long enough you find out that if you say X thing that they don't like you find yourself being punished for it. A good example is college campuses. I've seen it with workplace authority as well where conservative are punished by their liberal bosses for what they have said. What if a preacher says that women should stay at home and raise kids? He finds himself with a handful of women protestors outside his church just because he said something that was on his mind. Lets not forget the power to accuse someone of being racist because you thought the current black guy's federal budget was way out of line. The list goes on and on.

I see what you are saying but ****** is a pretty awful word to say in the first place. I definitely would no use it to describe my black friends as in that ****** over there is my best friend. My issue is that I can't make gay jokes anymore. I never thought they were funny but some people do and if they say them to themselves then so what.

Good post, I give it a thanks, and your heart's in the right place. But since the thread is about political correctness, why is the 'n' word only acceptable when blacks use it? I grew up using 'colored' as the polite term for Negroes. Now it's a no no.
