For some reason, people have this crazy idea that anytime a person steps on their property, then that person is living at-will of the homeowner, that on your property, you can kill anyone you want for anything that may make you feel uneasy.

How are people getting this idea?

Fox and the rest of the right wing propaganda machine. They are brainwashing the radical right wing idiots to have an arsenal of weapons, and to live in constant state of paranoia that "durrrr gunnnaa take yurrrrr gunnnnzzzz!!!!" and if anyone even accidentally moves an inch on your property, it's A-OK to kill them.

What is wrong with having an arsenal of weapons and protecting oneself? You act as like that is strictly forbidden. It's common sense to be prepared to defend yourself and have the means to do so, especially in a society that stresses liberty and self-government.

Now, whether this fact pattern is condusive to self defense, what the man's political affiliation is or his motive in shooting anyone was is pure speculation at this point. We don't have any information to go by.

I, for one, am curious why they were in the drive way long enough for an old make to get out a shot gun and shoot them. When I have to pull it a drive way to turn around, im in and out in about fifteen seconds, not even long enough for the owner to know I m around. And you can believe id be out of there a lot faster if someone came out with a gun.

But apparently some people here don't actually care about facts. They want to make it about politics despite no evidence of anyone's political affiliation. You realize that means mean you are intentionally being deceptive. That is propaganda, my friends. Those engaging in propaganda really dont have any moral authority to oppose it.

The kids were in the driveway because their GPS sent them to the wrong /house....they were picking up another girl to go skating with.... used the gps to find her house....

I did. It doesn't explain why they remained in the driveway after they realized it was the wrong house.

Did they know it was the wrong house? Maybe they were waiting outside for the person they were planning on picking up. Does it make sense that the victim would hang out in somebody's driveway while he is home if he was planning on robbing the place? It doesn't look bad that they were still in the driveway and were backing out when the victim was shot?

You've already determined that not only is this man guilty of murder without the facts, but also that everyone on the right is as well despite the fact that we don't have all the information, there hasnt been a trial, and we don't know this man's political affiliation, if any.

Here's one for you....
Back when the wife and I had just married we lived in a starter neighborhood like most young couples. A decent area but with some bad areas a few miles away.
I was sitting on the couch when I get a knock at the door. I look out the front window because I wasn't expecting anyone and see a car in front of the house with two mexican guys in it. And there were two mexican guys on my porch.
Something didnt smell right about this so I grab the sawed off 870 (1/16 over legal) that sits by the door(yeah I'm crazy like that)and open the door,keeping the shotty off to the side and ask them what I can do for them.
The first one asked if he can come in and use the phone to call a wrecker as his car had broken down. About that time I notice his buddy has a cell phone hanging off his pocket.
Now I'm real suspicious !! After a few seconds of silence the guy with the phone starts moving to pass the guy in front.
I bring the barrel of the 870 in to view and of course they fall all over them selves and my shrubs trying to get away............and they jump in their "broken down" car and haul ass.

So your friend is right to be wary when unknown people approach you on your property.
Hell maybe the old man had a similar experience to mine. Maybe two three.
Or maybe the guy is nuts.
I'll wait for more info.

Friends who were in the car with Diaz told WSB-TV that they were trying to pick up a friend on the way to ice skating on Saturday but their GPS directed them to the wrong address. The friends said that they waited in the driveway for a few minutes before Sailors emerged from the house and fired a gun into the air.

Gandy Cardenas, who was in the car, recalled to WAGA that the homeowner made no effort to speak to the group before opening fire.

His driveway is private property. He is an elderly man. No one knows what these guys were shouting out of the car while sitting in the driveway for a "few minutes". Furthermore, I believe there is more to this story than is being told here...... We shall see.
