Now, whether this fact pattern is condusive to self defense, what the man's political affiliation is or his motive in shooting anyone was is pure speculation at this point. We don't have any information to go by.

Just a mere 2 or 3 days ago, I read a post by a USMB RWer advocating and promoting the death by gun of a store intruder wielding a knife. They kuntinue to ramp up the unnecessary violence more and more.

The kids were in the driveway because their GPS sent them to the wrong /house....they were picking up another girl to go skating with.... used the gps to find her house....

I did. It doesn't explain why they remained in the driveway after they realized it was the wrong house.

Did they know it was the wrong house? Maybe they were waiting outside for the person they were planning on picking up. Does it make sense that the victim would hang out in somebody's driveway while he is home if he was planning on robbing the place? It doesn't look bad that they were still in the driveway and were backing out when the victim was shot?

It's also funny watching reactionaries on the right suddenly demanding more evidence. The same group of people who only needed a lip reader to tell you what Michelle Obama thinks of the American flag.

Maybe, but one of my closest friends lives in central Florida (Redneck Planet) and she, yes...SHE has no problem grabbing a shotgun if she sees someone approaching her property.

I have told her she's paranoid and what she does is stupid, and she's not even a Viet Nam vet. Redneck Planet (roughly from Texas to Georgia going west to east and Virginia to Florida going north to south) is like this and I'll never live below the Mason Dixon Line again.

Here's one for you....
Back when the wife and I had just married we lived in a starter neighborhood like most young couples. A decent area but with some bad areas a few miles away.
I was sitting on the couch when I get a knock at the door. I look out the front window because I wasn't expecting anyone and see a car in front of the house with two mexican guys in it. And there were two mexican guys on my porch.
Something didnt smell right about this so I grab the sawed off 870 (1/16 over legal) that sits by the door(yeah I'm crazy like that)and open the door,keeping the shotty off to the side and ask them what I can do for them.
The first one asked if he can come in and use the phone to call a wrecker as his car had broken down. About that time I notice his buddy has a cell phone hanging off his pocket.
Now I'm real suspicious !! After a few seconds of silence the guy with the phone starts moving to pass the guy in front.
I bring the barrel of the 870 in to view and of course they fall all over them selves and my shrubs trying to get away............and they jump in their "broken down" car and haul ass.

So your friend is right to be wary when unknown people approach you on your property.
Hell maybe the old man had a similar experience to mine. Maybe two three.
Or maybe the guy is nuts.
I'll wait for more info.

Honestly...this country will forever be plagued with this gun culture. I mean, they have gun ownership written into their Constitution, even if that wasn't the original intent, it's been interpreted as such for decades. This won't change, unless and until the Constiution changes...and I don't see that happening.

"A 69-year-old war veteran and former missionary was arrested over the weekend on the suspicion of killing a 22-year-old Cuban immigrant who mistakenly arrived in his driveway because of faulty GPS directions.

Gwinnett County jail records obtained by The Atlanta Journal Constitution indicated that Phillip Walker Sailors was charged on Sunday with the murder of Rodrigo Abad Diaz.

Friends who were in the car with Diaz told WSB-TV that they were trying to pick up a friend on the way to ice skating on Saturday but their GPS directed them to the wrong address. The friends said that they waited in the driveway for a few minutes before Sailors emerged from the house and fired a gun into the air.

Gandy Cardenas, who was in the car, recalled to WAGA that the homeowner made no effort to speak to the group before opening fire.

“He didn’t talk to them, he just started shooting,” Cardenas explained"

Maybe you should wait until more information comes out before jumping to conclusions. I, for one, am curious why they were in the drive way long enough for an old make to get out a shot gun and shoot them. When I have to pull it a drive way to turn around, im in and out in about fifteen seconds, not even long enough for the owner to know I m around. And you can believe id be out of there a lot faster if someone came out with a gun.

I'd like to hear from Blacks in the area about their contacts with the shooter! Has he killed or injured someone before? does he have a criminal history? Those questions don't seem to come up when a white man is the aggressor. True to form, blame is almost universally transferred to the dark skinned victims, They had to be doing something wrong to cause the man to shoot them. Well, if lingering in the driveway for a minute too long trying to discover if you are at the right place or not is a crime, many of us are guilty of that! It doesn't deserve the death penalty. Besides we don't know if traffic had the Cuban's car blocked in.

But apparently some people here don't actually care about facts. They want to make it about politics despite no evidence of anyone's political affiliation. You realize that means mean you are intentionally being deceptive. That is propaganda, my friends. Those engaging in propaganda really dont have any moral authority to oppose it.

A homicide occurred. Politicizing it won't bring the victim back. However, the underlying factors that brought the events leading up to this murder ought to be investigated thoroughly and publicized for all to see. I suspect that if the people in the car had been white, this story would have had a happier ending!
