Not that I expect any of the usual anti-gun trogs to engage in a meaningful discussion on the issue...

What will this achieve?

There are maybe 25,000,000 AR15s in private hands - -just- AR15s.
Lets say 5,000,000 are "bought back".
That leaves 20,000,000 AR15s in the possession of criminals, and creates of a huge black market for same.

How, specifically, does this make us safer?

Harris has walked back her position on mandatory buybacks since then.

As to your question, mandatory buybacks in Australia have been a rousing success.

“Correct, the VP will not push for a mandatory buy back as president,” Lauren Hitt, a Harris spokesperson, told The Reload. “She has expressed support for red flag laws, universal background checks and an assault weapons ban.”. The about-face on gun confiscation and retreat to the more politically palatable, though still controversial, stance of an assault weapon sales ban signals the Harris Campaign will more or less track with President Joe Biden on gun policy. It comes amidst a broader shift by the Harris team to pivot back towards more moderate political stances

Ah. Confiscating guns does not poll well.

There are, maybe, 25,000,000 AR15s in private hands, presently.
Absent confiscation, banning them will do nothing to reduce access to said 25,000,000 AR15s
How will this make us safer?

And your original response still does not address my original question.

And we're to believe her? She's been walking back a lot of positions. Is that because she's truly evolved on these issues or is it a ruse to appear she's moving to the center in order to win an election?
