Poor Harry was cut off from graft in the public sector after the republican landslide last fall and he sees that democrats ain't ever going to get the majority back so he is going to concentrate on crooked real estate deals in Vegas. No surprises here.

I said last year he'd retire if the Republicans won the majority in the Senate. That combined with his recent injuries are likely the two driving factors behind this move.

Fully realizing that you don't care for the guy (and neither do I, btw) exactly how is Reid retiring "reaping" all sorts of bad stuff for him. He's rich, has a large family around him, prominent in his state, etc......So, why is he so bad off?

Through a brazen intervention, Reid ultimately forced the Department of Homeland Security to bend to his will in a way that benefited his political allies and family.

The report concluded that Reid pressured a compliant DHS official to override normal departmental procedures and rush through 230 EB-5 foreign visa applications, thereby freeing up $115 million the applicants invested in the SLS Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas. The report did not, however, reveal the now confirmed fact that the owner of that casino project had hired Reid’s son, Rory Reid, to provide legal representation for the project.
