And today's media environment only feeds into this by nonstop coverage, showing gritty images over and over nonstop, using fearmongering tones and language.

Is there a threat? Of course. Can we defeat it? Please. Somehow we can face down the Soviet Union who had 5,000 nukes targeted at our cities and the largest army in the world but 30,000 men with AK47s and C4 are a mortal threat to humanity?
