American companies hire the Chinese to make goods that Americans used to make. The goods cost less to make. The American companies sell the goods at the same price as American made goods and pocket bigger profits from the cheaper Chinese goods.
What has happened with your trade wars is that Americans are still buying foreign made goods, but your trading partners stopped buying American made goods so your exports declined.
Only an idiot cancels ALL of your trade deals and opens a trade war on all fronts.

American companies hire cheap foreign labor to stay competitive putting money in THEIR pockets, meantime, companies and business lose the ability to make things here and Americans go without work they otherwise would have had. Unemployment goes up, wages go down, while a few CEOs get rich.

Trump comes along and tries to get fair trade so that we can make more things here, create more jobs, raise wages and have more to offer for export than soybeans. Now that China is starting to weaken, and people who actually know economics say that the trade war is hitting China four times harder than us, you call HIM the idiot.

Being one of the stupidest people on the board, I wouldn't expect you to understand that trade wars may hurt, but just as in real war, it becomes a matter of who can tough it out the longest. We will win this. While those hit hardest are being subsidized by the very money collected from the tariffs, China is losing business, manufacturers are moving manufacturing, people are buying fewer chinese good (I know I am!) and in the end, our manufacturing base will grow here with more and better jobs for Americans.

From Franklin Graham's point of view, moving the Embassy fulfills an "end of times" prophecy and the Rev. and his Brethern call sell the idea that Trump, as amoral and imperfect as he is, is God's Chosen One to lead America to a religious based theocracy. See the Story of King David, who sinned, but because he was God's Chosen One, was not cast out for his sins with Bathsheba.

I say this with all of the convictions that this Presbyterian Elder can muster, I do not want the President making decisions which affect world geo-politics, based on fulfilling end of times prophecies in the Bible, in order to shore up his evangelical base. This was not a harmless decision. 75 people died as a direct result of this policy.

Trump is desperate to hang on to his evangelical base, since they're the only ones who can be easily duped, and they've already been trained by the Franklin Granhams, and the Pat Robertsons of the Republican Party, to believe that liberals are satans.

It always starts with "We want moral leadership", and ends with "We want to take over the government and run it according to OUR religious beliefs". This is the reason WHY, the Founders sought to keep religion out of politics.
