ICE Forcibly Removes Woman Waiting for Emergency Brain Surgery Form Hospital

God, you really are a putz. She put herself in the position to be arrested and detained. She should have already been gone, but your dear leader thought the laws don't matter. Can you say, there's a new sheriff in town?

You know, and I know, it is a little more complicated than that...
I don't like illegal immigration either however once they're here you treat them like humans...
Yep....and get them back home to their families and communities as soon as possible...

I them doggie treats when they do tricks for me.

She has been in detention at Prairieland for nearly two years under Obama. Why would they want her back in detention instead getting medical care so she can be deported? It's not likely EL Salvador would take her back even if a judge signed the deportation order.

They don't get a choice in who to take back, they'll take back who we tell them to. That's how that works. We're not little pansy-ass pushovers anymore like under Obama. Or maybe you hadn't noticed? :dunno:
Here is an available pdf report Document of Amnesty International. Now that she is diagnosed with medical issues International law comes into play. She should have been deported prior to that. She was held in detention because she was considered a flight risk. I would ask what is her family members names? Some of them are also illegals.

Who took her to the hospital in the first place? According to the article she's being treated, what else do you want?

Bummer.

.When you are in this country ILLEGALLY, you better be prepared to be arrested and deported at a moments notice.

Actions have consequences

There are conflicting claims here as to how she is being treated. Wouldn't you agree?

ICE Forcibly Removes Woman Waiting for Emergency Brain Surgery Form Hospital

She was not "waiting for emergency brain surgery".

Her doctor said she was ready to be discharged from the hospital. He was making an appointment for some time later, to keep an eye on her condition.

So ICE arrested an illegal alien whose doctor said it would do her no harm to be discharged.

Nice try, libbies. Your Fake News has crashed and burned again.

Haven't learned your lesson yet, have you? Don't worry, plenty more where that came from.
The hospital said she was in stable condition. That means she can be safely transported and her condition is stable. ICE was not arresting her. She was transferred to the hospital by the detention center and ICE was transferring her back.

When a patient comes into a hospital with complaints of headaches, nosebleeds and memory loss, she is going to get an MRI to see if she has a brain tumor or other anomaly. She was diagnosis with a brain tumor and surgery is most common treatment so why should ICE have a specialist examine her again to determine the course of treatment when their own hospital has done that.
Shouldn't we get her as quickly and safely as we can to her home and family?
The would be New York.
Seems you're mistaken.......why would you force her from her home and family?
Force her?
Her kids are with her parents or siblings, not sure which, in New York. This is where she was going when ICE picked her up in 2015. I suppose the kids were sent to her family in New York at some time, not sure when.

Apparent her husband in El Salvador was connected to some kind of criminal enterprise which also included the police. According to Sara, she was afraid for her life and the kids. The police would do nothing to protect here and so she left El Salvador with the kids in route for her family in New York. It's not clear whether she entered the US via an illegal boarder crossing or with a Visa. Anyway she was picked up by ICE in 2015. Her family made the application for asylum for her since ICE denied her access to her family for some time. She has been in Prairieland Detention Center in Texas since 2015?.

She reported headaches, nose bleeds, and lose of memory in 2016. She was transferred to the hospital in 2017 for observation and diagnosis. I assume with those symptoms they did and MRI. It's reported that she was diagnosed with a brain tumor and surgery was scheduled for this weekend. ICE appeared at the hospital on Wed. to return her to the detention center. The hospital released her because she was in stable condition. ICE said that she would be examined by a specialist on the Feb 27th to determine a course of treatment. Those are the facts as reported. Since ICE rarely releases any information about those that are being detained, not much can be confirmed by them.

I have compassion for human suffering, but when you break the law there are consequences.

A critically ill woman from El Salvador who was awaiting emergency surgery for a brain tumor this weekend was forcibly moved from a Texas hospital to a detention center by federal agents.

Sara Beltran-Hernandez, 26, a mother of two young children, with no known criminal record was bound by her hands and feet and removed by wheelchair from Huguley Hospital in Fort Worth late Wednesday by Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents who brought her to a detention facility in Alvarado, Texas.

After being moved, she was not being given any treatment even though her nose continues to bleed and she has told them her head is exploding. This is unacceptable under our Constitution, and unacceptable from a standpoint of basic human rights,” Chris Hamilton said. This woman is critically ill and in severe pain.
Her current condition is unknown.

So she wasn't an illegal?
That has not been established.
Beltran Hernandez was picked up by immigration agents in November 2015 while trying to get from El Salvador to New York to visit her mother and other relatives who live in Queens. She has been detained ever since at the Prairieland Detention Center in Alvarado, Texas, while her family petitioned for asylum, citing threats of violence against her, from a domestic partner, among others. She was transferred from the detention center to the hospital in Fort Worth this month after complaining of headaches, nosebleeds and memory loss. Doctors diagnosed a brain tumor and put her on a waiting list for emergency surgery, which was supposed to take place this weekend.

Maybe they didn't want her to disappear after they discharged her from the hospital..
A women with a brain tumor scheduled for surgery with nose bleeds, loss of memory, and serve headaches is really not likely to walk out of a hospital where she is being treated all at government expense.:cuckoo:

Yup your family members who are also here illegally do not get special permits to go protest and you get standard prisoner medical care just like any other criminal would have.

That's alright. they probably deported the surgeon as well. One quarter of our medical professionals are foreign born.

A link has been posted that she was being discharged for a follow-up appointment. If that is true, where else would she go but back to the detention facility?

Do you think they would just stay there and let her wait for her appointment?

They come here legally because they can contribute to our society instead of becoming a burden like the illegals do,

That brings to mind how ICE works. First, there is a presumption of guilt. If you are stopped by an ICE agent and asked for identification and do not have it in your possession, you will be assumed guilty. What that means is the only right you have now is due process. You will be given a chance to contact a legal representative if you know who to contact. You may or not be given an opportunity to contact your family. Detention centers will usually give access to a phone at some point but that is not guaranteed. That depends on regulation and how the detention center works. You will be asked if want a hearing or whether you will agree to voluntary deportation. Likely, the agent will explain to you why you might want to accept voluntary deportation. Most detainees select voluntary deportation rather than being held in a detention center for an indeterminate period. If you choose a hearing, you will given a date. You may or you may not be released prior to your hearing. Depending on how busy the court is, your hearing may be in a week or 6 months or longer. While you are in detention, you may be transported to another detention center. ICE is not required to notify you or your legal representative. Once you get a hearing, you will be allowed to present evidence as to why you should not be deported, however you will not be told what evidence will be legally acceptable. If you do not have legal counsel, none will be appointed. You will be informed of your right to appeal but you will not be told how you might do that. Once the court makes it's decision to deport you, an immigration judge will sign the deportation order. You will be deported to the country that you claim is your country of origin providing that country will accept you. If it will not, then you can select another country. Eventually, you will be deported somewhere.

So yes, the doctor could be deported. In fact, anyone can that does have proper identification. If you have dark skin, have any kind of accent, you should carry good identification with you at all times or you may find yourself sitting on a curb in from of an airport in Yemen. Once deported proving you are a legal resident or a US citizen is not that easy. If you don't have prove of citizenship or legal residency in the US, it's unlikely that you will be able to talk to anyone in a US Embassy or a US consulate.

That's obvious.

From the link:

"The agency said in a statement Thursday, “During her stay at the hospital, ICE ensured that she was able to speak to her family and to her attorney by phone. Like all detainees in our care, Ms. Beltran will continue to have access to 24 hour emergency medical care and to any required specialized treatment at an outside facility.’’ The statement also said that a doctor had determined she was stable enough to be discharged and that she will be seen again by a medical specialist next week."

Most of the statements in the article come from her legal team, whose job it is to make ICE look bad.

The only statement given by the hospital seems to contradict the lawyers' statements.

Looks like the hospital already planned to discharge her pending an appointment the following week with a specialist. Any surgery would be scheduled after that appointment.
The actions of ICE does not really make sense. Why would they remove a woman diagnosed with a brain tumor already scheduled for surgery in 3 days to put her in detention? Brain surgery is not a cheap operation, $50,000 to $150,000 and if complications develop, the sky is limit and ICE could be stuck with the costs. And if the woman dies in detention, they're going to be facing one hell of a lawsuit. The sensible thing to do is let the woman have the surgery and then deport her.

BTW when the hospital says a patient is stable it means their condition is not worsening and they can be transported. It does not mean they don't need further care. My grandfather left the emergency room in stable condition and was dead in 48 hours.
Why do they not make sense? You are making assumptions here that I do not think are justified. Why should ICE not remove her from the hospital if she is in stable condition and not required to stay? Staying in emergency care can cost 10,000 dollars or more per day. Considering that the hospital discharged her and cleared it, why would ICE keep her there? What possible reason could they have for not returning her to detention untill the surgery date like any other patient would undergo?

My son has been in numerous surgeries that were under somewhat similar circumstances (minus the detention) and it is quite common to leave the hospital and stay at home until the actual date of the surgery itself with specific instructions on when to come back in. If she was stable there is little to be gained by keeping her in the hospital taking up a bed that someone not stable can use.
