What part of any federal agency can enforce federal law do you not understand idiot?

Federal agencies have charters, those outline the responsibilities, and authority of the agency. The IRS for example, is empowered, and authorized to investigate tax related crimes. The IRS would be ill suited, untrained, and unauthorized to search for drugs. That is the DEA's bailiwick. On the other hand, the DEA would be laughable at trying to find tax cheats.

Yet, they are both federal agents, so why can't they enforce any old federal law they want?

The case is not open-and-shut. You are using a overly broad interpretation of the word encourage. By your definition, someone who advocates for sanctuary cities could be charged. You don't understand the law, you fool. The jury is NOT going to unanimously vote not guilty. One or two of the jurors might but then it's a hung jury and he's tried again. You don't know what double jeopardy is.

Double jeopardy is when you are acquitted and tried again. Hung hue is not. You are right about that. But if you think you are getting a guilty verdict in California you are nuts.

Not guilty is just short of certain.

Kinda like, no way Trump will be President, that's the certain you're talking about right.

I'm not pushing for local law enforcement to conduct immigration raids. I just want them to quit interfering and obstructing when the Feds (ICE) do their jobs. The most that is being asked of local enforcement is to NOT RELEASE illegal immigrants they arrest during their normal duties until ICE can pick them up.

FFS, those same local LE hold people a long time during extradition processes. How is this any different?
