Debate Now If Bruce/Kaitlen Jenner is a woman, isn't Rachel Dolazel black by the same argument?

Think about it. Liberals say Bruce Jenner is a woman because he "feels" like a woman.

By that same argument, isn't Rachel Dolazel black because she "feels" black?

Isn't this a case of liberals will embrace gender bending because it furthers their agenda, but "race" bending doesn't, so they won't embrace it.

I think it proves this isn't about either person, but how liberals want to attack traditional morality. If they can't use it to attack morality, they aren't interested.

4) No complaining this structured debate censors you. If you don't like the structure, start a thread like it somewhere else.

If Jenner claimed to have never had a penis, you might have a point.

If he had been born with both sets of organs, is it for you to choose, or for the person to know inside what they should be?

What if his parents had chosen which sex he should be but when he grew up he did not feel it was the right one?

Again I am saying that we all live with who and what we are or we change that. But our choices are nobody's responsibility but our own. Whatever you choose, power to you, but just don't require me to participate in it or contribute to it.

So there's a new way for white contractors bidding on federal projects to win.

Feel like a woman (women-owned businesses get preference).

Feel like a black (minorities get preference)

Feel like a black, lesbian woman and triple the score!

Holy Mack'll, Andy!!!!

Don't forget the guy who feels like the black WAC with a bad leg. :)

Well there you are.

It's something MADE UP by a bunch of people

Social Darwinism was MADE UP by a bunch of people.

That didn't make it any more valid that this "social construct."

Race, class and gender roles are social constructions, as far as a sex you are born with that is different than a gender you identify with, these are two different things here, Gender is a socially constructed role that a society has determined a person born a certain sex has to behave like, look like or just is by default of being born a with a certain anatomy.

However, just because you are born with a biology of a vagina or penis does not automatically make you fall into those socially constructed categories of behavior or societal expectations of being a man or women.

So having a biological theory only proves that people are born genetically different, that doesn't mean that because of their genetics they are automatically pre existing as a specified mode of behavior or feel a certain way.

You can be born rich and into an affluent family, and all that does is give you an advantage but as far as your biology you are no different then someone born in the ghetto, in social construction terms you are going to have better healthcare, education and opportunities, but this is only true in a society that values a social class system.

If you were born in a society that did not measure social class that way, then there would be no advantage. All race, gender ad social class is socially constructed, meaning these are made up roles a society narrates.

To some degree I would agree. There are social and cultural expectations imposed on us all and we all grow up within those cultures and expectations that we either accept as the way things are or we rebel against them, sometimes to our own or others detriment. And sometimes we ignore the culture and mores we are expected to conform to and we become pioneers who pave the way for a better way to see or do things.

For this reason I do not personally judge Bruce Jenner--so far as I am concerned he has an unalienable right to live his life as he chooses so long as he doesn't require me or anybody else among the unwilling to participate in or contribute to that. But I won't ever consider him a natural woman and I don't think anybody should be able to demand that I do.

Ditto for those who choose to be seen as black or white or Native American or whatever. They have an unalienable right to see themselves as whatever they choose to be. But they should never have a right to demand that I accept that as natural or require that I participate in or contribute to that.

IMO, people have a right to be who or what they are or choose to be so long as they aren't requiring unwilling participation or contribution by others. And we all have a right to our own opinions of what we see as foolishness, bullsh*t, and/or immorality too.

Look, I can choose to think I'm a woman from mars.

That doesn't mean it's true.

People can delude themselves however they wish.

It's still a delusion.

But each society "defines" "outlines" "socially constructs" the narrative of what a "woman" is. So if you live in Iraq your role as a woman is defined differently then say how an american society defines a "woman"s role.

The role is given to you based on the anatomy you are born with, and whether you naturally feel like adhering to the role given a person born and defined as woman in Iraq or not doesn't matter.
Each society has already socially constructed a narrative to anyone born with a physicality that they collectively assigned to call woman and the gender role that is expected to accompany it.

Why is the role for what is defined as woman different in a\America? Because that "gender role" is defined and socially constructed differently in that society. It's just a gender role and gender roles are just that roles.

Well that doesn't mean that society is right.

The Germans defined themselves a master race and Jews not deserving to live.

That doesn't make it right.

You are just arguing a form of "moral relativism."

The way deviance is measured is by societies social constructions. Social constructions are narratives a majority agrees on. That is true whether the society constructs moral or immoral narratives and it is also true on what society narrates as moral or immoral, there is story told to explain why it is a good or bad thing.

Jenner went through surgery, hormones and conciliating to become who he was supposed to be. He did not reject his parents or family. He is no longer living a lie.

Dolazel is living a lie and taking advantage of school, work and those who are people of color to advance herself. She is resenting herself as something she is not. Dolazel is even trying to say her birth parents are not really her parents to further this lie.

I see what you are saying BUT:

Jenner said he always "felt a woman" which made him a woman.

And Dolazel died her hair and tanned herself.

Doesn't that count as well?

Caitlynn Jenner has undergone serious surgery, & the actual formation of a vagina from her penis is about a year away. There is no turning back @ that point, TMK. The cases aren't comparable, Dolazel can regrow her hair & simply give the tanning booth a rest.

The levels of commitment are not in the same ballpark. Jenner has spent a lot of time, effort, money, endured surgical intervention & more to come. I think Jenner has shown enough determination to use the pronoun "her" if she wants to.

Jenner had and has every right to call himself a chimpanzee or a little green man from Mars or whatever floats his boat. If he wants to be a woman and has the means to make that happen as much as it possibly can and somebody is willing to do the necessary surgery to make that happen, power to him. I honestly don't care.

But if I did care, he still should have the right to make his own choices, and I should have the right to think it is a stupid thing to do, and I should be under no obligation to finance it, participate in it, condone it, appreciate it, or accept it as normal.

Likewise if Rachel Dolezal wants to see herself as a black woman or a Roman goddess or Egyptian queen or a creature from the bar in Star Wars, who am I to say she can't do that? But I should be under no obligation to finance it, participate in it, condone it, appreciate it, or accept it as normal. And we need to become a society without special interest groups so that people like her cannot scam people for fame and profit.

Yes.

Bruce clipped off his wanger to make himself a "woman". What body part did Rachel Dolazel change that made her qualify as Black?

Hairdo and Tanning don't count as that isn't permanent.

There are men who get penile or testicular cancer or have injuries or infections that require amputation of both penis and testicles, but they are no less men. And they don't think of themselves or describe themselves as women. So Bruce Jenner's 'transformation' is of his own choice and I don't pretend to even begin to understand what would inspire somebody to do that to themselves. But it is his body and his life, and if he found a doctor with no moral problems with doing it, so be it. It does not affect me in any way. At least not yet.

And I could care less if somebody wants to pretend or believe they are black when they are not. Or white when they are not. Or Asian or Hispanic or Native American when they are not. I just don't want them to be able to demand that I agree with them. And I don't want them to be able to require me to support or pay for or participate in those choices. But then I don't think anybody should be able to require us to participate in or contribute for their benefit based on the color of the skin or what they insist their race or ethnicity is.

Jenner never felt he belong in his skin. It has taken him this long to make the transformation to be who he was supposed to be, the person he felt he was. He might have been born with the male body but he had the brain telling him he was a woman. He tried to fight it for decades. He tried to pretend to be what the world though he should be, not what he was inside.

Penile and testicular removal effects the body in many ways, it also depends on at what age the removal takes place. The younger it happens the less male hormones the body was able to produce. An older man has already produced a lifetime of testosterone.
Animals that have their nuts removed are quite passive by comparison.

I can think of a few men that should have been neutered when they were young. It is far more complex than just x and y chromosomes.

What jenner went through is far more than just putting on a dress, changing his hair or wearing sink undies.

But it doesn't address the op in any way.

Rachel Dolazal claims she always "felt black."

Does that make it so?

None of which, however, has anything to do with my argument on this subject. I am not questioning Jenner's right to do whatever based on how he saw himself or how he felt in his skin. I don't presume to judge whatever anybody does based on how they see themselves or how he or she feels in his/her skin just so long as there is no demand on me to participate in it or contribute to it or declare that it is normal or okay or brave or necessary or however they wish to characterize it.

Everybody has an unalienable right to be who or what he or she is and live his/her life as s/he chooses so long as nobody else is required to contribute or participate in that if they choose not to do so. Nobody should have a right to demand or require anybody else to contribute or participate in their life choices, nor do they have any right to be admired or appreciated or accepted or approved in the choices they make.

Look let's just boil this down to a more simple argument.

You can believe you are a woman or black if you want to.

That doesn't mean I have to believe it, too.

That does not make me the devil. It makes me a very unbalanced moron who seriously needs help.

You can commit to do all kinds of things to yourself. Does that mean you ARE that, or just that you are mentally unbalanced?

I'm sure you have all seen this photo graphic as it has pretty well gone viral. Admittedly every photo may not be entirely fair, but it does speak to the 'truth is in the eye of the beholder' kind of thing that seems to pervade our society in a way that I can't remember ever happening before. The question is, are we obligated to define people as they see and describe themselves? Or are we allowed to call bullsh*t when we see it?

PRICELESS...!!

1) No screaming racism

2) No flaming members including the op!

3) No derailing threads trying to deflect or change the subject.

4) No complaining this structured debate censors you. If you don't like the structure, start a thread like it somewhere else.

Jenner went through surgery, hormones and conciliating to become who he was supposed to be. He did not reject his parents or family. He is no longer living a lie.
Actually Jenner has not removed the most vital bit of
anatomy that would identify him as a male so his total commitment to being a "woman" is somewhat suspect.
He's actually a cross dresser more than anything else. He certainly is not a woman anymore than putting on cowboy boots and hat makes you Wyatt Earp.

Dolazel is living a lie and taking advantage of school, work and those who are people of color to advance herself. She is resenting herself as something she is not. Dolazel is even trying to say her birth parents are not really her parents to further this lie.
Considering Jenner soaking up his moment in the sun (his new reality show, his ESPY award, his Vanity Fair cover, the adoration of so many deluded people) I'd say it is Jenner who is milking this all for the advantage and attention it's worth.

Dolazel is a piker and an amateur at enriching herself through her fantasy identify compared to Bruce Jenner.

It is done in phases. GRS is the last phase. At 60+ yrs if age, it is not like there will be a great deal of sex in her future. Right now she is still adjusting to what she felt inside all her life. Living around women all ones life is not the same as actually living as a women.
One surgery at a time. She has already made most of the big steps, for herself and the society.

Presumedly, there's a legal definition for men and women. If Jenner meets the legal definition for a woman and can use their restrooms, he's legally a woman.

But there's likewise a legal definition and standard for ethnicity as per claiming Native ancestry for government perks and discounts you wouldn't meet simply dressing as one. Or in the case of a caucasian woman dyeing her body brown.

Big steps for society? I don't see that so much.
In fact what I see is a sort of bullying and cultural Marxism where if you don't love Jenner and see her as "beautiful" it unleashes a torrent of hate and
shaming upon those that dare to say no.
Still some voices get through even at a site like TMZ (hardly a bastion of right wing repression) where an online poll revealed that three-quarters of those responding
did not find Jenner "beautiful".

Jenner gets his own reality show, a cover shoot and a little self congratulatory courage award
(that many found inappropriate) for his later life break with reality. Society gets yet another dividing line over which to fight.

You believe he went through this struggle all his life and extensive surgery and counseling for a reality show? Or is the reality show a way of bringing understanding and support for others struggling with this? He began the hormones and counseling long before reality shows existed. It has been an issue in all three of his marriages. He tried to conform to what society expected of him for decades and realized he was not being himself and hurting those he loved most.

It is not about loving Jenner, but learning not to hate other with gender issues and seeing them as human beings. Money and publicity allow him the ability to help others with identity confusion issues, because of standards society artificially impose on them.

Your attitude shows how uninformed and hateful you are.

I don't care if you don't love Jenner but she is just another person and does not deserve your abuse, even verbally, or towards others struggling for acceptance.

neither are what they claim to be

Obviously.

But we are told we are intolerant "homphobes" or whatever if we say that about Bruce Jenner.

So, why then is Rachel Dolazal not black because she says she is?

It seem to liberals now, all you have to do, to be someone or something, is simply say you are.

I think I was born a wombat, therefore I must be.

It's ludicrous!

I just thought of one more wingnut left winger that does the same. Jake, he keeps trying to convince people he is a Republican conservative.
Jake lies for a reason. Why he keeps it up is there is always another newbie who might be fooled. Not that anyone is for a picosecond after reading your first post by him.

That's a chicken or egg question that's impossible to answer. I do know a man who has spent his entire adult life in a vain search for adulation (he tried to parlay his Olympic gold into a Hollywood career) is now searched out and fawned over in a way that must have far exceeded his wildest dreams before he decided (once his Kardashian gravy train had stopped) to come out as an ersatz woman.

He began the hormones and counseling long before reality shows existed. It has been an issue in all three of his marriages. He tried to conform to what society expected of him for decades and realized he was not being himself and hurting those he loved most.
If there were truly hormone treatments and counseling long before his time as Kris Kardashian's reality show bitch it's impossible to see any proof of it.
I'm not in a position to say he's lying but I can say there isn't a shred of evidence to support that claim and if his wife (who is understandably bitter) was caught absolutely by surprise I think I'm on solid ground here.
How do you hide hormone therapy from everyone around you? It's a joke.

It is not about loving Jenner, but learning not to hate other with gender issues and seeing them as human beings. Money and publicity allow him the ability to help others with identity confusion issues, because of standards society artificially impose on them.

So Bruce/Caitlyn Jenner is now a crusader and after decades of life as a putatively normal heterosexual man he's being showered with money, praise and attention to get on his soapbox (in his designer dress and jewels) to declare he's down with the cause for transsexual respect.
Where has he been for the last fifty years? I respect someone like Rene Richards who took all the slings and arrows when it wasn't popular to change her gender. I really haven't got a single ounce of regard for a pampered attention whore who sees he can extend his "celebrity" status by coming outside after the storm has passed mostly by and take the applause of a mob
of bullies.

I don't care if you don't love Jenner but she is just another person and does not deserve your abuse, even verbally, or towards others struggling for acceptance.
Jenner is not "struggling" for acceptance...she is swimming in it! And to say otherwise gets a target nailed on your back.
It's the sort of bullying one gets for speaking the truth and like Bob Costas and Dave Chappelle, who says "to what extent do I have to participate in your self image?" I wish Jenner well but I won't be pushed into genuflecting before a vapid attention seeker who has mined her gender dysphoria for all it's worth.

He began hormones for GR 30 yrs ago and then stopped them soon after falling for Kris. You expected breasts to just pop up on their own with hormones? That his voice would change? That his body hair would fall out on it own? That his face would change? That he would cry over everything? How do you know what happened and didn't while taking those hormones?

As for using his recognition in the Olympics, that had a lot to do with society and the need for income, doors were open to him. He did a lot of self help speaking over the years, while struggling to help himself with his identity. He gave a lot to others because his publicity allowed him the ability to do that.

You see muscles and think macho. Women can be muscular and competitive without taking testosterone or estrogen inhibitors. Even though there had been a few cases in the 20th century around the world, GRS was not really available till this century.

Billy Jean king used her fame to help LGBT in their struggle. She was married for 21 years and struggled to find her identity as well till the 1970s.

GRS is just a superficial part of becoming who you were meant to be.

You just make my point. Apparently his "overwhelming need" to become a woman didn't stop him from marrying Kris Kardashian
and being her lap dog for decades.
You expected breasts to just pop up on their own with hormones?
Have you ever heard of cosmetic surgery?
That his voice would change?
Has it changed?
That his body hair would fall out on it own?
Are you also unfamiliar with waxing? How would you know, by the way, how hairy his body is and do you realize some women are quite hairy, in any event?
That his face would change? That he would cry over everything?
Has it? Does he?
How do you know what happened and didn't while taking those hormones?
I could ask you the same. You ask me to believe this
new Bruce/Caitlyn Jenner that suddenly sprang forth at age 65 has been
in the works since childhood?
Where is the proof? And why is his ex wife so surprised and betrayed by it all?

As for using his recognition in the Olympics, that had a lot to do with society and the need for income, doors were open to him. Jenner was an awful failed C list actor. I'm not knocking him for that.
Not everyone can be an Erik Estrada (the guy Jenner replaced while a contract dispute took place). But it just demonstrates where his interests have always lied and why he let himself be part of a national joke as the father of America's trashiest, dumbest reality family.
As Caitlyn, Jenner is suddenly the white hot center of attention (for as long as that lasts) and it's amazing how, after fifty years of gay and trans rights battles,
Jenner is only now poking his botox filled face in the cameras and acting like Charles DeGaulle when, after all the fighting ended in WW2 France, he showed up in parades and acted like he (DeGaulle) was responsible for getting rid of Nazis.

You see muscles and think macho. Women can be muscular and competitive without taking testosterone or estrogen inhibitors. Even though there had been a few cases in the 20th century around the world, GRS was not really available till this century.

This is all irrelevant. As I said Rene Richards was admirable for standing up.
Jenner is just contemptible as a pampered attention whore and a symbol of something she wanted no part of for so long.

He did a lot of self help speaking over the years, while struggling to help himself with his identity. He gave a lot to others because his publicity allowed him the ability to do that.

Billy Jean king used her fame to help LGBT in their struggle. She was married for 21 years and struggled to find her identity as well till the 1970s.

GRS is just a superficial part of becoming who you were meant to be.
This is all irrelevant. As I said Rene Richards was admirable for standing up.
Jenner is just contemptible as a pampered attention whore and a symbol of something she wanted no part of for so long.

It is ok for Richards but not for Jenner? Richards as been behind Jenner in this process

Bruce Jenner Has A Sex Change Coach Renee Richards Reportedly Gives Reality Star Advice On Sex Reassignment Surgery

Richards began and stopped her process for years during which she married and had a child.

GRS has nothing to do with wanting to be part of a family and have children. They can still love a women and raise children even will conflicted in identifying about who they are and who they should be.

All Jenner's children are grown and support their father's transition now. I'm sure at first it was hard for them to comprehend but they want their father is be happy with who she is.

I expect it was would be harder going through this in front of the public eye.

Why should Jenner slither away in silence if his story could help others?
