The New York STATE laws regarding weapons may or may not be in conflict with the 2nd Amendment to the U.S. Constitution.

But the NY State Penal LAW is still the law of the State.

If it is someday ultimately determined to be a law that is violative of the 2nd Amendment, then the law will be struck down, as void.

In light of some RECENT decisions by the SCOTUS, the question of the Constitutionality of the NY Penal Law sections on weapons (assault weapons or otherwise) may not be as firmly resolved as you might assume.

I'd say there a lot of ignorance as demonstrated by the fact that people vote way too much against their well-being after swallowing everything about their ideology.
People in the US just let their ideology dictate their lives even when it has a negative belief that effects their day-to-day lives. Hence, we get a dysfunctional elected government as evident by the current state of our Executive and legislative branches of government.
That's what is really wrong with America.

You forgot about the deep pockets of lobbyists......I get tired of the bought and paid for politicians :eusa_eh:

People are always talking about broken promises by this politician or that politician. The problem is they can't keep them all, but they have to make them to get campaign contributions. Go to public funding of elections and politicians would have to make fewer promises and hopefully just those they really intended to keep. Those they do would also be less expensive, because they don't have to go "hat in hand" to special interests. Couple that with the amount of time saved by not having to attend fund raiser after fund raiser and they'd actually have the time to read a bill or two!

This is the equivalent of saying rape and murder laws aren't "real" laws since there are literally millions of both instances which occur every year.

Just because a city, state, or county over steps their authority doesn't render the Constitution void. Just like the anti-gun laws of D.C. and of Illinois were properly and legally over turned by the Supreme Court (the actual role of the Supreme Court).

With each post, you dig yourself a deeper hole for yourself. You really need to find an ounce of humility and just admit you were speaking out previously from a place of ignorance. Sadly, southern Dumbocrats demanded that black people be considered 0/5 of a white person. They demanded that black people be PROPERTY. But when it came time for the census, Dumbocrats demanded that their property be suddenly considered as "people" so that they could receive more representation in Washington and retain their slaves. Republicans called them on this hypocrisy and after a long and bitter battle, the compromise between them was to count the slaves as 3/5's of a person. Of course, the GOP eventually freed the slaves and made sure that they became 5/5's of a person and FREE. Now that I educated you on the history, what does this have to do with anything?
