In God We Trust...Or, at least, we used to.

While our nation was founded primarily by Christians, our founders were smart enough to not make this a Christian nation

They must have known what assholes many of them are and they would turn the nation into the Christian Taliban

Then there is no way US should be appeasing those with the most extreme and least tolerant edicts. You Liberals like to believe it is those in flyover country clinging to their bibles and guns but those people are not forcing non-Christians off the interstate. Try driving to Mecca as an observer, non member of the religion and tell US your reaction when you get forced off the road at gunpoint.

Christians evolved. Stop appeasing those that have not or, worse, telling US how we should and building on Christian behavior from hundreds and thousands of years ago as a basis. It's pathetic.

We are talking about the founding of our country. That is 240 years of "were"
If we had turned this nation into the Christian Taliban, Mormons would have been exterminated

Jefferson's Letter to the Danbury Baptists
The Final Letter, as Sent

To messers. Nehemiah Dodge, Ephraim Robbins, & Stephen S. Nelson, a committee of the Danbury Baptist association in the state of Connecticut.

Gentlemen

The affectionate sentiments of esteem and approbation which you are so good as to express towards me, on behalf of the Danbury Baptist association, give me the highest satisfaction. my duties dictate a faithful and zealous pursuit of the interests of my constituents, & in proportion as they are persuaded of my fidelity to those duties, the discharge of them becomes more and more pleasing.

Believing with you that religion is a matter which lies solely between Man & his God, that he owes account to none other for his faith or his worship, that the legitimate powers of government reach actions only, & not opinions, I contemplate with sovereign reverence that act of the whole American people which declared that their legislature should "make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof," thus building a wall of separation between Church & State. Adhering to this expression of the supreme will of the nation in behalf of the rights of conscience, I shall see with sincere satisfaction the progress of those sentiments which tend to restore to man all his natural rights, convinced he has no natural right in opposition to his social duties.

I reciprocate your kind prayers for the protection & blessing of the common father and creator of man, and tender you for yourselves & your religious association, assurances of my high respect & esteem.

Th Jefferson
Jan. 1. 1802.

United States Constitution
Article 6, Clause 3

The Senators and Representatives before mentioned, and the Members of the several State Legislatures, and all executive and judicial Officers, both of the United States and of the several States, shall be bound by Oath or Affirmation, to support this Constitution; but no religious Test shall ever be required as a Qualification to any Office or public Trust under the United States.

This is a secular nation.

You people will do everything and anything to avoid the here, the now, the are, the is, of the one religion that has not evolved and insists on tolerance of no other besides its own. I am a Christian, my in-laws are Mormon. Go present them with your concerns for them vs. the ones I have raised. They share the same concerns as me as far as extermination for not believing.....and it ain't Christians.

Here are some quotes from some rather famous and influential people, throughout history, about Christianity and it's role in our society. This for those who claim that we were never a Christian nation. Read it and weep.

The Founders used God and Religion as a rhetorical device, flowery emotional language. Bringing God into any speech gets (some) people fired up.

Bringing up God is especially useful before a battle. Less men tend to retreat.

Makes one wonder why or how anyone could ever tolerate or appease those that use God or equivalent as a means to beat, maim, or kill women, homosexuals, and otherwise infedels as opposed to those that say "live and let live". Christians evolved and do that today. Others, not at all. Why the appeasement?

You can trust in your god all you want. Freedom of religion.

You don't have freedom to force that religion on someone else. That is the part you seem to not get. In your home or in your church/mosque/synagogue do whatever makes you happy. But don't then decide everyone HAS to do it as well.
I don't see anyone forcing Christianity on anyone else. And the Constitution give us the right to practice that religion anywhere we want to. That includes people elected to government. In fact, what I do see is Christians being told that they should be seen and not heard.

Not at all. We would prefer that you not be seen NOR heard.....

Really? I'll bet you would also be cheering if they started throwing Christians to the lions again. You make me sick. You truly deserve what's coming.

The OP is about 'in god we trust'. Trust any god you like, Jesus, Thor, The Spaghetti Monster.

Just don't pretend that this is or ever was a 'christian' nation. Neither is true, many of the founders were Deists who thought Christianity an abomination and enslaver of men.
The current attempt to redefine America as 'christian' is just that, a current attempt.

There is and never will be a theocracy here. Sorry Charlie.

LOL So you are advocating for a theocracy in the US? Isis is already on that, maybe you can join forces.

christinsanity is the downfall of America. Its followers turn the other cheek and love their enemies are they rape and destroy America and allow a flood of SHIT in. No thanks. We need a NEW religion that unites people behind one thing! That is why even though Jews have been run out of EVERY country they have ever settled in they have stayed united because their religion unites their race as ONE. That's what the people this country was intended for WHITES need and it already exists people just need to throw the shackles of that shit religion off and open their eyes.

Someone slaps a Christian in the face, the Christian will turn the other cheek, following the Bible.
There is no word in the Bible to follow after the other cheek was slapped.
Non Christians would be wise to remember that.

ISIS and Christianity are the same? Show us where Christians are beheading infidels and shooting up gay nightclubs?

Not ISIS and Christianity, Islam and Christianity. And there are extremists in all the religions, especially the three Abrahamic ones.
