Yes, it's too late.

The one positive is that he will do a better job of selling Trumps policies than Trump did, he will also do a better job of debunking on the spot and lies which ABC only did for one side. The "good people on both sides" comment for instance.

We should all be preparing for WWIII. In fact, a high ranking Chinese government official not too long ago stated openly that China should accept the loss of about 800M citizens in a nuclear war which may be necessary to win. He even outlined the regions of China he anticipated being destroyed.
