Well it was deemed a tax because as its present form was unconstitutional
if that tells you anything..

the simple answer is yes. Obama and his minions hate this country and everything it represents, they are determined to punish it for slavery and for their distorted view that the US became successful at the expense of others.

Who gets to define Americanism?

the constitution.

Can you quote the relevant portions for me? Which article and section defines Americanism?

the entire document sets forth what the USA is all about and what the signers believed in. Of course there is no definition of americanism, you have to take the entire document in context to understand what this country is about.

But to summarize it for you:

individual freedom and responsibility
small federal government
states rights
freedom to succeed and freedom to fail
freedom of religion
freedom of speech
the right to live our lives as we see fit, not as some govt or king dictates

the constitution.

Is being unconstitutional and anti-American the same thing?

question for you: is doing something unconstitutional a crime?

based on history the fear of government was so great that they did not put the Bill of Rights in at first because many were afraid that if government were given the authority to protect a person's rights it would instead use that authority to take the rights away and thus expand its own authority.

correct, and based on what is happening today, they were right to fear the government.

I don't think the term anti-American makes sense at all, at least in terms of ideas. One of the principles the U.S. was founded upon would be the freedom of thought, so to believe in the idea of universal health care cannot be "anti-American." In practice it can certainly be unconstitutional, as I think Obamacare, even though it's not really universal health care, obviously is, but the idea cannot be described as anti-American.

Yes, something unconstitutional is a crime, but you can't hold the government accountable. So does the Constitution even matter?

"But whether the Constitution really be one thing, or another, this much is certain—that it has either authorized such a government as we have had, or has been powerless to prevent it. In either case, it is unfit to exist." - Lysander Spooner

Yes Hong Kong did 20 times better than liberal communist China and yet our liberals insanely want to emulate liberal communist China!! It can only be explained as a mental illness.

Again we see the complete stupidity and gullibility of the Misinformation Voter. That 16,000 number was fabricated by the GOP and fed to the most stupid people on Earth, who swallowed it whole. Ron Paul went so far as to say the 16,000 would be ARMED agents. With 1.6 billion bullets no doubt! :cuckoo:

By the way, that GOP scripted lie was fabricated in 2010, before the ACA went into effect. Now that the law has started we have the actual number of IRS agents hired as a result of the law, a total of 291. That's right, 291 agents were exaggerated into 16,000 agents by the GOP and there are people stupid enough to still parrot the 16,000 figure in a public forum after the actual number is known!!!!

Dear, The Affordable Care Act is a 2700 page government monster by any imaginable standards and so far far exceeds the evils mentioned in the Declaration of Independence.

CBO Director Elmendorf, March 11: CBO has not completed an estimate of all of the discretionary costs that would be associated with H.R. 3590. … uch costs would probably include an estimated $5 billion to $10 billion over 10 years for administrative costs of the Internal Revenue Service (IRS).

Thank God, Obamacare is constitutional, therefore it's Americanism. I was worried that the posters would find it was unconstititional, therefore unAmerican, but the poster came through once again. Another problem cleared up.
