Is The War On Terror Just A Jobs Program?

Doesn't seem like we're trying to win it, so the only other conclusion is it's benefitting business interests. A job program. Doing it half-ass ensures we never win, and if anything only multiply the problem ensuring we'll always need military people, defense contractors, and rich beneficiaries to donate to pro-war politicians. Whereas if we ever won and there was no more significant middle east terror it'd be a massive economic hit.

For that matter, is the whole war industry a jobs program? If we ever actually achieved a year of peace wouldn't that mean we wouldn't need so much monies going to defense and such? Isn't that rather a bad idea from the point of view of the people in charge? If you can't claim IS is a threat to the US, who will you scare you people with to keep them in line? If the people you rule don't fear someone other than you, you're in big trouble.

What's a 'win' on the war on terror? US flag raised in middle east countries? If so, why are we putting that off? Are we waiting until they get nuclear weapons so we can use our's and wipe them out in some justified usage? If we're fighting a war, shouldn't we be trying to win it so it can end? Or has the MO become fighting wars but to prolong them since that benefits business interests?

No one in their right mind is going to voluntarily fight a war if there's no point to it, nor any definable victory.

If the entire Muslim world hates the US already for what we've done to date do we really loose anything we want if we go all in and start taking over the middle east? We certainly have to means, so why half-ass it? We want the oil and resources, they can't resist us, who'd oppose us? Russia, not likely. China? Maybe but not militarily.

Only downside I see to going all-in and taking over the middle east is it'd give a pass to Russia and China taking what they want openly and without holding back. But isn't a minimized balance of power better than what we've got going on now? We take the middle east, Russia takes back former Soviet states, China take Taiwan and SE Asia. What's so bad about that?

Dunno -- let's ask this guy, he knows what he's talking about..

As does this guy...
War is a racket. It always has been... A few profit - and the many pay. But there is a way to stop it. You can't end it by disarmament conferences. You can't eliminate it by peace parleys at Geneva. Well-meaning but impractical groups can't wipe it out by resolutions. It can be smashed effectively only by taking the profit out of war. -- Smedley Butler
