De Blasio is an idiot but he does have a point. What is this country going to look like when most jobs become automated and workers are no longer needed? Will we be a country of the very rich and the very poor, with no middle class to speak of? We're heading that way now.

Technology and automation has given this country great productivity and a tremendous standard of living. It has increased wealth for all of us.

To try to tax improvements in productivity would be one of the biggest mistakes ever made by a stupid politician. Of course Deblasio has never been lacking in the dumbshit area.

They want income equality! Equal with who is the question! I want income equality too, I'll takes The income of Darrell Issa (D)the gentleman from California. Or any of the top 50 wealthiest Politicians in Washington. Bottom of the top fifty is Around 7.5 Million. But that's not what they want, they want everybody to be on the dole to a govt that controls everyday life from how many children you have to what you eat and most of all what you think and how you raise your children.

I don't dispute anything you wrote. I just worry that as the automation trend continues and society doesn't change, there will be civil war between the haves and have-nots. Maybe not a shooting war but we may end up with a Bernie Sanders or worse. Someone willing to promise everything to those that have nothing.

I don't think technology produces a "nothing class". Technology and automation can be the tide that rises all ships. We have certainly seen that in the last 100 years, haven't we?

More people are employed in the US than ever before and most of us, even the poor, live pretty darn well.

Here's a bit of knowledge which won't make a lick of sense to one as dim and desperate as you: the tariffs have not resulted in inflation (higher prices) in large part because China devalued their currency resulting in more bang for the American buck.

While many vote only their highest priority issues (pocketbook, abortion) I tend to believe most Americans can see the big pic, know that China and socialism are very real threats to America's economic health, and are willing to forgo personal gain for the greatest common good which generally benefits them anyway.

For instance, most will not benefit by stopping the theft of intellectual property but all instinctively know our trade imbalance and deficit spending are not sustainable.
