True enough, Islam was born in isolation on a virtual island so that separation of church and state was never considered. Accordingly it became liberal or fanatical due to 100% concentrated power.

Christianity, conversely, was born within the Roman Empire so had to compete with the Roman Gods and Emperors intellectually. This created a strong intellectual tradition and tension between church and state with the state being left with half the power only. When the Vatican was built, for example, it featured the famous Schools and Athens fresco which featured both Plato and Aristotle indicating that the church saw its role as in part academic, as bringing wisdom forward, and as an intellectual alternative to the concentrated power of the liberal state.

No surprise then that Christianity being conservative out performed Islam being liberal.

Islam in its modern form is VERY conservative.

of course thats very very stupid since conservatives believe in limited govt while modern Islam (ISIS, Iran , Saudi Arabia, etcetc) believe in unlimited govt.

Do you understand?

No. Your problem is you are confusing authoritarian theocracy with liberalism. Because something tickled your ass and you confused it for a thought.

dear, our liberals spied for Stalin. The more authoritarian the better. Notice they now support Sanders and open communist??

What does that teach you?

That teaches me that you will easily conflate political ideologies and religion in order to successfully prove you are a moron.

Do you have a problem when government officials tell people what they can or cannot do based on their religious beliefs?

dear, communism is a religion or a substitute one. Why do you think our liberals spied for Stalin? You don't think ISIS is a government too??

Think before you post!!

I don't know how anyone can conclude that Christianity is conservative or that Islam is liberal.

These monolithic generalizations are downright stupid.

Some of the most radical liberals were/are Christians. The Berrigan brothers leap to mind. Martin Luther King. Jesse Jackson. Reverend Wright. Hell, there are some people who think the current Pope is some kind of commie!

Islam's treatment of women and gays suggests a wide conservative streak among a large number of their membership.

.

Iran and Stalin= strong state, Christian west= weak state.

NOw do you understand it?
Wow. This kind of profound dumbness is simply unfathomable.

As an aside, Iran is a great argument for the separation of church and state.

You are off your rocker!

Christ believed in helping the poor and downtrodden. Those at the bottom of societies ladder.
Conservatives, on the other hand, have a war against the poor. They do everything they can to crush the poor and silence their voice.

Christ believed in loving thy neighbor.
Conservatives believe in putting a wall between them and thy neighbor.

Christ did not believe in bearing false witnesses.
Conservatives are all up into lying about others. This thread being a perfect example of that.

First off. I didn't claim you as my bitch, stop calling me dear. Trust me, this tactic is less than successful and takes away from your argument.

Second, liberalism does not live and die on Stalin who was an oligarch which is in direct opposition to what liberalism stands for. Yes, we are going to disagree on the purpose of government and all that but the focus of liberalism is to make government work better. I'm a liberal, no fan of Stalin.

Thirdly, the USSR was not religious. What do they have to do with Islam? Is liberalism like Islam or the USSR? Personally I think liberalism operates like one of your run of the mill countries in Europe who believe in entrepreneurship with a strong social safety net with rules set in place that benefit society as a whole based on democratic values.

So, with that said. Do you as a Christian want to force homosexuals not to marry? Kind of like they do in Islamic countries?

I don't think you have much of a point. I think you have a hard on to name some soviet spies, why not just get that out of the way and then shut the fuck up?
