Found object, New York Times:

Former Gov. Jeb Bush continued to take a hard line against normalizing relations with Cuba on Friday, accusing the Obama administration of capitulating to an oppressive regime by removing it from a state-sponsored terrorism list.

“Neither continued repression at home nor Cuba’s destabilizing activities abroad appear sufficient to stop President Obama from making further concessions to the Communist regime in Havana,” Mr. Bush, who is considering a run for president, said in a statement.

The statement came as Secretary of State John F. Kerry rescinded Cuba’s designation as a terrorism sponsor on Friday. The move came after a 45-day congressional notification period that began on April 14 when President Obama said he wanted to remove Cuba from the list. The removal marks an important step at normalizing ties between the two countries.
I thought Jeb was supposed to have taken the brains Dubya didn't get --- here he apparently doesn't know the difference between repression and terrorism?? :disbelief:

Hard to believe....

Cuba is old news. The old stodgy dying "people's socialist paradise" might still harbor old fatigue wearing bearded revolutionaries but it ain't the typical home for wild eyed jihad maniacs. Barry should have made a better deal by forcing Cuba to extradite the criminals who are hiding out on the island but the former community activist ain't known for his deal making.

Mr. Bush demonstrates he's not unlike most republicans, with regard to his obvious propensity to lie.

Apparently JEB believes he can get away with acting stupid just because of his last name... :dunno:

I, for one, stay awake nights worrying about Cuban terrorists

Then you agree with the president that normalizing relations is warranted, given Cuba is 'old news,' and its system of government 'dying,' particularly given the fact that the policy of attempting to isolate Cuba is a miserable failure.

Jeb is a Florida Republican.

Why is it surprising that he's still on the "cuba is evil" train? That's the political base he's focused on for decades.

Any serious reasons why having a relationship with Cuba is a good thing yet?

Actually that would be counterproductive to Florida's benefit, as we would have the most economic gain from it.
We already have several companies with granted permits to operate ferry services

I think you misunderstand me.

Normalizing relations would be very good for Florida - but for the last 30 years or so, even suggesting something like that would be political suicide for a Republican in Florida - if not causing a straight up assassination.
