My wife is a health and patient safety officer in Cancer Research.

Cancer is not cured.

Your chances of surviving cancer haven't changed. It mostly depends on what your health insurance is willing to pay for. A treatment that has a 30% chance of success but costs ⅛ of the treatment that has a 60% chance of success is going to be funded every time while the 60% success treatment is unused until you die...because you ran out of time while using the other.
