No, last paragraph is where you go wrong. The Assault Weapons ban (yes, the legislature called it "Assault Weapons" and it did indeed outlaw them even if you argued they didn't exist) was in effect for 10 years in this country and no one ever made a move to confiscate your hunting rifle or your handgun, did they?I don't blame him for not knowing the names of "assault weapons" because there is no such thing. It's a bullshit term without specific meaning.I like a man who doesn't know the names of assault weapons.
This is one of the most frustrating bits of commie left dumbassery.
"Assault rifle" refers to the Sturmgewehr 44. Literally translates as "storm rifle."
It was distinct from other firearms at that time because it combined the submachine gun, which fired smaller, short-ranged pistol caliber cartridges in full-auto, with battle rifles, which fired larger, long-range rifle cartridges.
The Strumgewehr (storm rifle) combined these:
Gewehr 41
and
MP40
To make this:
(Note: the shorter rifle cartridge)
Assault rifles were (illegally) banned in 1986 by the Hughes Amendment (in violation of the express intent of the 2nd Amendment). Currently, any assault rifle (not the bullshit, loosely-defined term "assault weapon") manufactured in or after May 19, 1986 is (illegally) banned from civilian ownership barring very unique circumstances for which 99.99999% of the people do not qualify (again, completely contrary to the express intent of the 2nd Amendment and the Miller holding).
The lying-ass politicians (97% of them being Democrats) are trying to take it even further and ban firearms based solely on the fact that they LOOK (but do not perform) like assault rifles, and have used and continue to use the BULLSHIT term "assault weapon" to scare up support.
They will continue this bullshit until they have confiscated everything, which is why we must revert back to the original express intent of the 2nd Amendment and get all of them back, including the state-of-the-art, fully-automatic, belt-fed machine guns.
Machine Guns or Valhalla!!!
.
Define an "assault weapon". Seriously.
I really don't expect a valid answer, having asked this question for decades.
Also, I don't hunt or shoot for sport. Does that place me in a separate category under the 2nd Amendment?
