Many of those involved with the labor struggles of the 1st half of the 20th century were card-carrying Communists..or at the least committed Socialists. When the worse abuses were corrected, the vast majority of them moved on.

Again..Marxism is an economic theory. Pretty much a discredited one. Its themes of economic empowerment and the 'leveling' of society resonate with the downtrodden--but it is fundamentally flawed..as it does not account for the hard-wired need for hierarchy in humans and human systems.
