Keystone is over

If Republicans had included Keystone in a comprehensive public works bill meant to provide millions of jobs, it would have been approved in a minute

Instead, they used it as a means to have a political showdown with the President....they lost
yep. And we saw how that turned out. Our President has lowered gas prices so much that it isn't fiscally feasable anymore. Thank you Barack :salute:

obama lowered oil prices? LMAO...
ummm..... yes :eusa_eh:

The culture of man used to be based on fashioning wood into spears to hunt animals and gather wild fruits and nuts;
Until it became based on building permanent structures and farming the land;
Until it became based on navigating the oceans and mining metals;
Until it became based on demarcating states and raiding the states of others;
Until it became based on Mercantilism;
Until it became based on industrialization and capitalism.

Why so regressive?

why so silly?

you're against evolution of the species AND "capitalism"?

You think everything should be freeeee?
marxists are pretty comical. I want a freeeeee Ferrari..and a freeeeee house in hawaii, comrade...and I want the government to provide them for me...otherwise it would be viewed as "regressive"...and we don't want to be called names, of course..LMFAO..

What Marxists?

And where in that post did you see anything about anything free.

If any thing it's you folks that want "free".

You want free oil subsidies and free support of the Military industrial complex.

There's a name for that.

Fascism.

Post ONE direct quote from anyone who said they want "free oil subsidies and free support of the (sic) Military industrial complex".

As usual you're all over the map..saying just whatever comes into your head next...

for the fourth time;
can you explain how goods and services would be exchanged if you could abolish capitalism? I'm still waiting for that

Me all over the map?

You're the one against progress.

Oil energy for generations..

Really?

Yes..oil will be the primary source of energy in the world for generations to come.

Where, exactly, did I post I want to abolish capitalism.

It will, probably, over the course of time, be taken over by another economic mechanism.

But this should happen gradually and "naturally". It should not be opposed by the interests of a few.

Which by the way, is happening with the oil energy lobby, which has a stranglehold on this and many economies.

It's the reason we go to war in the middle east and spend so much of our resources.

There go lots of jobs down the drain.

How many permanent jobs was that?

:link:
No relevance to argument what so ever,and a perfect example of willful ignorance.That bridge down the street,how many permanent jobs were created for that??!!

When you have a backlog of tens of thousands of deficient bridges, I would say that could be multi- generational jobs.

That is what amazes me about Republicans

Keystone was their only infrastructure jobs program. Tens of thousands of projects that will help Americans and they only care about a Canadian pipeline
That really blew up in their faces.

CHj6z6v.jpg

will you abandon all products that you own that were made with petroleum products?
Didn't think so, hypocrite.

The world runs on oil...It will for decades to come, whether you "like" it or not.

To the very end, Republicans could have gotten Obama's approval on Keystone if they didn't use it as a stick to beat them with

Obama had a jobs bill sitting in Congress for a year and a half. If Republicans had offered up approval of those needed infrastructure projects in return for Keystone, they could have had it

.
but they decided to go "all in" on a foreign pipeline w/ a net job total of 35 and this great nation being on the hook for the inevitable spill clean-ups. How'd that work out Repubs? :rofl:

plus it goes to American refineries
Taking the land of American citizens up north, through eminent domain, for a foreign country corporation, for a pipeline of their ownership, to ship their tar sands across our nation to the gulf of mexico, for a handful of oil refineries to score big time in Texas....is not for the benefit of the Nation, but a financial gain for a company or two....

Eminent domain should never be used for this purpose...the betterment for the Nation yes, not the betterment for a handful if even a handful of American corporations, and the betterment for a foreign nation's company.

That's simply wrong.
yabut the Repubs were for it!!! :p

unfortunately our "leader" wants to purposely cripple the nation and the energy producers...He brags about it.
Luckily he's about done and we'll get an american patriot in the white house.

Are you implying the stimulus didn't perform as they were sold it would, as to shovel ready jobs, and they were to then believe them on other bills?
Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me.

Facts: All new pipelines have built-in pressure sensors and independently off-grid electric ball-valves installed about every half mile along the pipeline.
Should any portion of the pipeline pressure drop due to any damage occurring to cause the pipeline pressure to fall below a very small parameter the ball valves on either side of the rupture automatically close.
This insures very little oil ends up on the ground. Under every square inch of the pipeline is installed a thick rubber (synthetic) vapor/catchment barrier curved up on the sides to prevent oil from seeping into the ground.
THINK!
The LAST THING any pipeline company wants is to have a drop of oil escape the pipeline and possibly pollute the ground.
VERY BAD for business financially and a public relations nightmare.
Again. THINK!
pipline people are very very anal,there are rule after rule for how when and where anything is done,pipelines are much safer,economically cheaper than any other form of transport.
Having worked in the oil industry, (first career) for some years I can attest to what you are saying.
There are no more 'anal' employee's than engineers. Their whole life revolves around putting out 100% perfect work product. In almost all cases people's lives are at stake no matter what field an engineer is working in. Directly or indirectly.
Their careers depend on it.
They pretty much all stay in the profession their whole working lives.
Their fuck-ups, if any, follow them.The fact is oil must be transported from the well to the refinery. Pipelines are by far the safest way to accomplish it.

Keystone was the Republicans big "job initiative"

Hundreds of thousands of construction jobs available in building and repairing our own aging infrastructure and the only project Republicans support is one helping Canada

Makes one wonder what country they prioritize

There was nothing inherently wrong with Keystone that other of our thousands of miles of oil pipeline didn't have. But Keystone became a political torch...to Republicans, it had to be passed to embarass Obama

Why Republicans would claim Obama was blocking jobs while they refused to fund hundreds of billions of dollars worth of infrastructure jobs that helped Americans

Republicans could have had Keystone if they tied it to other infrastructure related jobs projects....but they were more concerned with using it as a political hit against the President

we wouldn't even benefit from taxes on the oil exports from keystone xl, yet our Americans forced to give up land they don't want to give up rights to by our gvt....simply WRONG on all accounts.
Valero, the top beneficiary of the Keystone
XL pipeline, has recently explicitly detailed
an export strategy to its investors. The nation’s top refiner has locked in at least 20 percent of the pipeline’s capacity, and, because its
refinery in Port Arthur is within a Foreign Trade
Zone, the company will accomplish its export
strategy tax free.

Of course it's relevant and in direct response to your point.

Cheney had private heads of oil corporations secretly determining public policy in terms of energy. Part and parcel with that was the invasion of Iraq, which the PNAC, a group that Cheney and many folks in the Bush administration were a part of, overtly advocated for.

And as to what replaces Capitalism? Who knows?

It's probably something that looks like a blend of both capitalism and socialism in the short term.

But over the longer term it will be as "radical" as the eventual evolution of capitalism out of monarchies.
